Arrival of the New Toyota Hiace Expands Competition Among Vans in Brazil Focused on Logistics, Proven Engine, Automatic Transmission and Warranty and Maintenance Programs Targeted at Fleet Owners and Urban and Highway Transport Companies.
Toyota has begun offering a new configuration of the Hiace in Brazil aimed at cargo transport, with a starting price of R$ 304,990 and a proposal to compete for space with established models in the segment, such as Fiat Ducato and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
According to a report published by the portal Motor1 this Thursday (15), the van arrives with a 2.8 turbodiesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, a set that the brand uses in the Hilux, in addition to a declared load capacity of 1,055 kg and adherence to the Toyota 10 program, which can extend coverage for up to 10 years, according to the manufacturer’s rules.
Officially launched in September, the Hiace expands Toyota’s presence in the van market with an option focused on deliveries and services.

The new model coexists with the passenger version Minibus DX AT with 15+1 seats, currently offered for R$ 344,990, completing the range with an option aimed at logistics operations and cargo transport.
Hilux Mechanics Are the Main Differential of the Hiace Van
The main argument for the Hiace Van is the adoption of the same mechanical set as the Hilux sold in the country.
The van uses the 2.8 turbodiesel engine with 174 hp at 3,400 rpm, with torque of 45.8 kgfm at 1,600 rpm, paired with the six-speed automatic transmission from Aisin, as detailed by Motor1 in its report on the model.

In practice, Toyota bets that the market’s familiarity with this powertrain will help reinforce the strategy of ownership and maintenance costs.
At the same time, the automatic transmission serves as a differentiator in a segment where some competitors still offer entry versions with manual transmission, depending on the configuration and usage focus.
The reported consumption figures for the Hiace Van are 8.8 km/l in the city and 10.2 km/l on the highway, according to measurements released based on Inmetro standards.
These figures, on the other hand, may vary in fleet operations depending on load, route, and driving style, as is the case with any commercial vehicle.
Dimensions Allow CNH B and Urban Use
The Hiace Van is offered with 5,915 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 3,860 mm in wheelbase, measurements that place it among the large vans available in Brazil.
Nevertheless, the model is approved for driving with CNH category B, the same required for passenger cars, according to information released by the manufacturer and reported by Motor1.
For cargo transport, Toyota declares a cargo volume of 9.3 m³ and capacity to carry up to 1,055 kg.

Access to the compartment can be made via side doors on both sides and also through the double rear doors, a common solution in urban distribution operations.
The brand also highlights the height of 2.28 m as a practical aspect of the design, allowing entry into some garages of commercial and residential buildings.
For companies with routes that include closed parking lots, this type of measurement often weighs as much as load capacity.
Adaptation Possibilities Expand Professional Use
Another area explored by Toyota is the possibility of customizing the vehicle for specific uses.
The Hiace Van can receive implementations by companies certified by the brand, with options that include transformation into an isothermal body, refrigerated configuration, and even conversion into an ambulance.
According to what Motor1 pointed out, the manufacturer states that the van can be customized within an ecosystem of approved partners, with warranty related to the service provided.
The proposal is to serve from the transport of food and medicines to service provisions that require an adapted body.
Safety and Driver Assistance Are Standard

In terms of standard equipment, the Hiace Van comes from the factory with three airbags, including two front airbags and one knee airbag for the driver.
Additionally, the model includes electronic assistants such as Hill Start Assist, traction control, and stability control.
For maneuvers, the van offers a rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors, relevant items given the size of the vehicle and its frequent use in urban areas.
The 9-inch multimedia center also integrates the package, following the connectivity trend in commercial vehicles.
Warranty of Up to 10 Years and Fixed-Price Maintenance
As with the passenger version, the Hiace Van can participate in the Toyota 10 program, which extends coverage beyond the initial warranty.
The protection can reach 10 years, as long as maintenance is performed at authorized service centers and within the regulations of time and mileage, as detailed in a report by Motor1.
In maintenance costs, the van is part of the Facilitated Revision program, which provides for the first three revisions being free.

From the 4th to the 6th revision, Toyota discloses a fixed cost of R$ 1,219 per maintenance, totaling R$ 3,657 up to 60,000 km or six years.
Services are performed every 12 months or 10,000 km, following the brand’s standards.
The manufacturer claims that the dealer network has been prepared to service the model, with immediate availability of parts in 97% of cases.
The factory warranty is five years, with a limit of 200,000 km for private use and 150,000 km for commercial use.
With the Hilux engine, automatic transmission, and a declared focus on logistics, the Hiace Van arrives priced higher than some equivalent versions of rivals, but attempts to compensate with a well-known mechanical package and coverage and maintenance programs.

Mas o valor inicial de R$304.000 está muito alto em relação a concorrência que também entrega veículos muito bons e valores iniciais menores que são Renault e Fiat.
