Toyota, a renowned Japanese automaker and leader in the pickup truck segment, has just revolutionized the automotive market by presenting the world's first hybrid Hilux during an event in Italy. This new version of the iconic model uses a 48V micro-hybrid system, which works in conjunction with the robust 2.8 turbodiesel engine, capable of generating an impressive 204 horsepower. With this innovation, Toyota not only reinforces its commitment to sustainability, but also enhances the performance of the Hilux, combining strength and efficiency in a single machine.

Check out the details revealed about the first hybrid Toyota Hilux of the world

The world's first hybrid Hilux promises significant changes in acceleration and power, without leaving aside its renowned pickup truck load capacity.

The Toyota Hilux hybrid is also equipped with the Multi-Terrain Select system and regenerative braking to maximize its efficiency.

These technological innovations make the world's first hybrid Hilux the most efficient and adapted model to face the most varied terrain conditions, guaranteeing an improved driving experience.

The micro-hybrid system that the hybrid Hilux uses, in addition to the 2.8 engine, has a modern electric motor-generator. This, in turn, is powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery, offering more power during acceleration.

The battery of the world's first hybrid Hilux is light and compact, weighing just 7,6 kg, and is strategically positioned under the vehicle's rear seats. This arrangement does not interfere with the truck's interior space, maintaining its practicality.

The pickup's system also features an electrical converter, built to withstand adverse conditions, ensuring longevity and efficiency in the most diverse situations.

Technology to increase autonomy in Toyota hybrid

The world's first hybrid Hilux integrates a regenerative braking function that, together with engine braking, offers a smoother ride and fuel economy. fuel.

When driving, the model's new system ensures smoother acceleration and deceleration. Off-road, the technology ensures superior performance, making it easier to overcome obstacles.

The pickup stands out with Multi-Terrain Select, offering six different modes: Sand, Mud, Rock, Dirt, Snow and Auto. By choosing the first, the pickup's sensors evaluate the terrain conditions and automatically adjust the appropriate settings.

The Hilux maintains its robust characteristics, such as the capacity to transport up to 1.000 kg and tow 3.500 kg. The bucket length remains at 1.555 mm, while the ground clearance is 310 mm and the entry and exit angles are 29 and 26 degrees, in that order.

With Toyota Safety Sense technology, the model guarantees safety and comfort for its occupants. Finally, the package is even more complete with JBL sound systems with nine speakers and the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system.

BYD is also bringing new features to the pickup truck market

In addition to the Toyota Hilux Hybrid, to compete directly with similar models, BYD announced a few months ago the arrival of its hybrid pickup truck BYD Shark, which promises to be the future of the automotive market. The model will feature CTC technology, which integrates the battery into a high-resistance steel chassis, ensuring total safety in off-road use.

Regarding the battery, the BYD pickup uses the Blade model, whose information is still a secret. Thus, as in other electric cars from the Chinese manufacturer, the BYD pickup will also feature V2L, which is the capacity for external recharging.

In terms of power, it is possible that BYD's capacity will have the same powertrain as the Leopard, featuring a 1,5-liter engine capable of generating around 180 hp, combined with electric motors that deliver 480 hp of power.
