Recalling the glory days of the famous Land Cruiser, the automaker plans a triumphant return with the Land Cruiser FJ.

This model, which made history by selling over 10 million units globally, is now returning with a touch of modernity to compete directly with the heavyweights of the category.

What About the Engine

Regarding the engine, it is speculated that the new Land Cruiser FJ will be equipped with a 2.8 turbo diesel engine with 204 hp, already known from the Hilux and Prado models.

Additionally, hybrid and electric options are also being considered, aligning with global sustainability trends.

Another possibility is the use of the 2.7 gasoline engine with 166 hp, also present in the Hilux Champ, according to sources from the site.

In 2023, Toyota unveiled the Compact Cruiser EV concept, which could serve as a basis for this new project.

Expectations are that the Land Cruiser FJ will be approximately 4.5 meters in length and 2.75 meters in wheelbase, dimensions that would place it in an intermediate position between the SW4 and Corolla Cross.

And the Toyota Model in Brazil?

According to the cited site, in Brazil, the viability of launching the Land Cruiser FJ will depend on factors such as production and import costs.

The jeep market in the country is quite segmented, with the Suzuki Jimny selling fewer than 1,000 units annually since its launch.

However, there is still a loyal audience for this type of vehicle, especially after Troller exited Brazil in 2021 when Ford ceased its operations in the country. The closest competitor to the Jimny currently is the Jeep Renegade.

In any case, with this new launch, Toyota aims not only to revive the nostalgia of an icon from the past but also to bring innovation and modernity to a market that seeks robust and versatile vehicles.

It remains to be seen whether the Land Cruiser FJ will be able to win over consumers and stand out in such a competitive segment.
