In its 24th year, the Shell Iniciativa Jovem program remains committed to involving participating entrepreneurs in a series of remote activities, including workshops, consulting, ongoing support from renowned specialists, and mentoring aimed at facilitating collaboration and networking development. These initiatives aim to provide a solid foundation for the growth of participants, regardless of whether they are at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey or already have a business in operation.
Candidates are categorized into two distinct acceleration groups: those who are starting their entrepreneurial journey with an idea that has not yet been materialized; and those who already have established, formal or informal businesses, seeking professional support for more efficient management and greater socio-environmental impact.
Diversity and Inclusion in the Shell Iniciativa Jovem
In addition to promoting the entrepreneurial spirit, the Shell Iniciativa Jovem is known for its emphasis on diversity and inclusion. In the previous edition, the 23rd, the program supported 158 entrepreneurs at various stages of development, both in the ideation phase and in operation. Specifically, 63% of the participants were women, and 62% self-identified as Black or Brown. These numbers highlight the commitment of Shell Iniciativa Jovem to create an inclusive and diverse environment where all talents have the opportunity to grow and make a positive impact in their communities.
Maria Angert, Social Performance Manager at Shell Brazil, emphasizes the program’s relevance: ‘Our commitment goes beyond supporting businesses; we aim to build an ecosystem where diversity and innovation are valued, empowering young entrepreneurs to generate positive and lasting impact’.
Impact and Sustainability in Business
Since 2000, the Shell Iniciativa Jovem has invested in training and stimulating entrepreneurs to develop sustainable businesses with significant social impact. One of the most notable outcomes of the program is the creation of the Network of Sustainable Enterprises, which now brings together 390 active companies. These businesses were founded by participants who excelled in the program and were awarded the Sustainable Enterprise Seal.
By focusing on young people with innovative projects, Shell hopes to contribute to greater environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and lasting economic growth. The acceleration program not only enhances the skills of participants but also fosters an innovative environment that aligns with ethical and sustainable values.
Partnerships and Objectives of the Program
The Shell Iniciativa Jovem entrepreneurship program is an initiative by Shell, executed in collaboration with CIEDS (Integrated Center for Studies and Sustainable Development Programs). Its central objective is to promote job and income generation, as well as to encourage entrepreneurs to develop their businesses responsibly and ethically. To this end, participants have access to training and mentoring that help them improve their strategies and management of their companies.
The pillars of the program are innovation, ethics, and sustainability, ensuring that entrepreneurs are well-equipped to respond to market demands in an innovative and responsible manner. This transforms the entrepreneurial environment into an inclusive space, where diversity and female participation are strongly encouraged.
