Apple Recruits A Lamborghini Executive For Its Autonomous Electric Car Project That Has Been Surrounded By Issues Since 2014!
When we hear news about the Apple Car, it is usually associated with the complications Cupertino has faced in developing its mobility proposal. However, this time, a positive report about the project has emerged. According to Mark Gurman, Bloomberg journalist and a reliable source regarding the brand’s future products, Apple has hired a key figure from Lamborghini, part of the Volkswagen Group, to involve him in the design of its autonomous car.
This is Luigi Taraborrelli, who worked at the Italian automaker for 20 years. During the last stage of his stay at Lamborghini, he served as the main person responsible for chassis and vehicle dynamics. On his resume, he can boast of having worked on the development of the Lamborghini Urus, Hurricane, and Aventador, which are the company’s most distinctive models in recent times.
Cupertino Calls On Luigi Taraborrelli To Lead Apple Car Design!
Taraborrelli has joined the California company to lead the design of the Apple Car, which is no small task. According to Gurman, the position of the aforementioned, but above all the timing of his joining Apple, shows that the company is making steady progress in developing its autonomous electric car. Of course, they do not plan to take their foot off the gas.

In addition to Taraborrelli, Bloomberg also highlights Ulrich Kranz, former senior vice president of BMW’s electric division. During the early months of 2021, he began working in the safety section of the Apple Car.
The company has also drawn on executives who already have a long history in other areas of Apple. This is the case with Kevin Lynch, who, in addition to overseeing everything related to the Apple Watch and health software, is also one of the main people responsible for the Apple Car today. The other figure accompanying him in the same position is John Giannandrea, responsible for machine learning at Apple.
A True Autonomous Car!
This is not the first information about the Apple Car to surface this month. On July 11, The Information echoed that the vehicle would not have a steering wheel or pedals – coinciding with a previous report from Bloomberg. On the other hand, the seats would be facing each other – like in limousines – making it easier for passengers to have conversations. There is even talk of a lounging system for sleeping. The rest of the interior would integrate technology everywhere, starting with large screens.
Of course, the same report warns that Tim Cook (Apple CEO) and Craig Federighi (Senior Vice President of Software) may not be as confident in the development of the Apple Car. The reason? Constant changes in the team and the absence of a single person to truly steer the project.
It seems, then, that while we do not have official details about the Apple Car from the company, reports about its status will remain mixed. At least for now, Luigi Taraborrelli’s signing is a positive step.
