Simulation considers Volkswagen Tera of R$ 140,000, down payment of R$ 80,000, interest rate of 2% per month, and terms of 36, 48, and 60 months, showing how the installment decreases as the term increases, but the interest raises the final cost.
The financing of the Volkswagen Tera, considered in a simulation with a price of R$ 140,000 and a down payment of R$ 80,000, shows that the chosen term directly alters the installment amount, the interest paid, and the final cost of the car.
The simulation starts with a financed balance of R$ 60,000 and uses an interest rate of 2% per month. The calculation compares three terms: 36, 48, and 60 fixed installments. However, the rate may vary according to score, relationship with banks, vehicle year, and other financing conditions.
Volkswagen Tera in 36 installments
In the three-year term, the Volkswagen Tera would have fixed installments of R$ 2,353.97. At the end of the period, the buyer would pay R$ 84,742.96 only in installments, in addition to the initial down payment used in the simulation.

Of this financed total, R$ 24,742.96 would correspond to interest. This amount represents 29% of the total installments paid. With the R$ 80,000 down payment added to the financing, the final cost of the vehicle would reach R$ 164,742.96.
Longer term reduces installment, but increases interest
In 48 months, or four years, the installment would drop to R$ 1,956.11. The monthly reduction is accompanied by an increase in the total paid, as the financing remains active for a longer time and accumulates more interest.
In this scenario, the total paid in installments would rise to R$ 93,893.29. The interest would reach R$ 33,893.29, equivalent to 36% of the total installments. At the end of the contract, the Volkswagen Tera would cost R$ 173,893.29.
Simulation in five years makes the car more expensive
In the 60-month term, the installment would be R$ 1,726.08. Despite being the lowest installment among the three options, the total paid only in installments would rise to R$ 103,564.68 at the end of the five years.
The interest, in this case, would reach R$ 43,564.68, equivalent to 42% of the total installments paid. With the down payment considered in the simulation, the final cost of the vehicle would reach R$ 183,564.68.
The comparison shows that longer terms reduce the installment but increase the total cost of financing. For contracts of four or five years, amortization was mentioned as an alternative to reduce interest by anticipating payments from back to front.
The simulation reinforces that the Volkswagen Tera becomes more expensive as the contract time increases. The lower installment does not mean a lower total outlay, because the additional term increases the incidence of interest.
