The Estudar Foundation is now offering the free CC50 course, an introduction to computer science, which is one of the most popular at Harvard University. This course celebrated its ten-year anniversary last year and has been released in a new high-resolution version with updates that have emerged in recent years. The online course classes are available with subtitles in Portuguese.
Harvard University Online Computer Science Course is Fully in Portuguese
In addition to content and format updates, the program has been expanded, increasing its duration from 10 weeks to 11 weeks. Now, the classes of the free course are available in the original Harvard University course’s own development environment. It is worth noting that CC50 is the translation of the original “CS50,” but with a focus on native Portuguese speakers.

The CC50 focuses on individuals with no previous knowledge but who wish to learn about Computer Science. In the Harvard University online course classes, students will learn basic concepts of the internet and computing, such as algorithms, project development, programming, in addition to having access to a community of students with various levels of experience in the field.
It is important to emphasize that the classes will be taught by the following instructors: David J. Malan, Professor of Computer Science Practices, member of the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University and creator of the CS50 course; Brian Yu, Professor of Computer Science at the Harvard Division of Continuing Education; and Doug Lloyd, Professor of Computer Science at the Harvard Division of Continuing Education.
How Will the Free Course Classes Be Taught?
In total, there will be 25 hours of video lessons with theory and case studies. The course aims to teach how to think algorithmically and solve programming problems efficiently, in addition to introducing Programming and Computer Science and becoming familiar with programming languages such as C, SQL, Python, Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
The online course will also teach how to develop and present a final project, concepts of algorithms, abstraction, data structures, resource management, encapsulation, security, web development, software engineering, among many others.
