Suzano Announces Installation of Pulp Factory in Ribas do Rio Pardo in MS; The New Facility is Expected to Create 7,000 New Jobs in the Region.

The week begins with good news for professionals in MS, with 7,000 job openings expected from the announcement of a pulp factory by Suzano in the municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo. Not everything is lost! After Discarding Comperj Refinery, Petrobras Guarantees Investments of US$ 4 Billion and About 7,500 Jobs in 2020 in the Petrochemical Complex of Rio de Janeiro

The unit will have a capacity of 2.2 million tons and will be the fourth pulp production industry in the State, consolidating Mato Grosso do Sul as a major global producer of the product, said Sérgio Longen, president of Fiems (Federation of Industries of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul).

The factory is expected to initially receive around R$ 300 million in investments and generate up to 7,000 direct and indirect job openings for the city.

“We need to talk about how viable this project is and the potential that Ribas has in the forestry sector. The factory meets a community desire for job creation. For at least ten years, the municipality has lost many jobs and many companies have closed. The forecast for direct jobs is 2,000 job openings with the capacity to create 7,000 direct and indirect jobs,” said the mayor of Ribas do Rio Pardo, Paulo Cesar Lima Silveira.

The acquisition of 106,000 hectares and the Installation License for the pulp factory in the State was announced in a market communication issued by Suzano last Thursday, the 12th, and reflects the commitment of the MS State Government to attract investors and create an ideal business environment for attracting investments of this magnitude.

Mato Grosso do Sul currently has two pulp production plants from Suzano, formerly Fibria, and one from Eldorado, all in Três Lagoas, a municipality known as the “Pulp Capital,” with 92% of the production from the three factories currently destined for the international market.
