The logistics company VLI is offering six job openings for switch operators in Paulínia, São Paulo. VLI encourages the participation of women in the railway sector since 2021, through an exclusive talent bank for women. VLI’s goal is for women to hold at least 30% of leadership positions, such as managers, by 2025.

To apply for the job openings at VLI, it is necessary to reside in the municipality of Paulínia, or nearby, have completed high school, and be available to work in shifts and on a schedule. No experience in the role is required to apply for the job openings, as the selected women will undergo training to become VLI train operators.
According to Lorena Maria Marinho Ribeiro Santana, VLI’s People Analyst, the company effectively works to bring more women into VLI’s operations. Therefore, women will be prepared to take on significant challenges in their careers and will receive technical support and development in their areas. She also emphasizes that a woman’s place is wherever she chooses to be and that there is no job that is not suitable for women, as they have the ability to do things correctly and well.

According to OE Magazine, Lorena Santana is 35 years old and has a degree in psychology. She joined VLI in 2016 as a junior Recruitment & Selection Analyst and was later promoted to the position of senior People Analyst at the end of last year. Currently, Lorena covers the entire Baixada Santista region, Campinas, Ribeirão Preto, Paulínia, and Aguaí in São Paulo. Lorena shares that in 2021 she was chosen to become one of the leaders at VLI, and her goal is to engage people and attract more women to operations, always promoting diversity in this area. Lorena claims that the railway is for everyone, including women.
Job Responsibilities of the VLI Switch Operator
The Switch Operator will be responsible for:
• Executing train formation and disassembly maneuvers;
• Assisting in the link process in distributed traction;
• Assisting in the circulation of railcars by supporting maneuvers and crossings at track switches (AMV);
• Assisting the engineer in fulfilling authorizations and observing the train and the railway itself;
• Installing jumper cables, DCA (Automatic Tail Detector), EOT (End of Train), and other equipment and performing tests;
• Removing lists of railcars from the yard and terminals when requested;
• Complying with all rules of the Railway Operations Regulation (ROF):
• Training new operators when requested;
• Driving small vehicles within VLI locations;
• Replacing TOF/CPT during vacations, absences, and in their absence;
• Working on the maintenance of fixed installations and rolling stock of the company in their working environment.
