End of Year Promises to Boost the Economy with Thousands of Temporary Opportunities and Chance of Conversion.
End of Year Should Generate More Than 118 Thousand Job Vacancies in Brazil
Commerce and the Service Sector are expected to open around 118 thousand job vacancies across Brazil by the end of the year. This information was released on Monday (22) by the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) in partnership with the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil).
The opportunities include temporary, permanent, informal, and outsourced contracts.
The expectation is that one-third of companies (33%) have already hired or still intend to hire workers. Meanwhile, 59% will not expand their teams, especially microenterprises.
The increase in demand at the end of the year remains the greatest engine of these hirings, responsible for driving the economy and creating new chances for professional reintegration.

Why Hiring Increases at the End of the Year
According to the survey, 47% of business owners report that they reinforce their teams to handle the extra activity of the holiday season. Meanwhile, 22% seek to fill positions opened due to high turnover, and another 20% see hiring as a way to provide better services in the face of fierce competition.
This movement opens strategic opportunities for those seeking employment, especially in the sales sector, which leads the search for new professionals.
Temporary Workers Can Become Permanent
Half of the companies plan to hire temporary workers, with contracts lasting an average of 2.5 months, nearing 3 months in the capitals. However, the most encouraging data is the intention for permanence: 47% of companies state that they can retain some of the hired personnel after the period.
According to José César da Costa, president of CNDL, this is a positive sign.
“The 118 thousand job vacancies represent a great opportunity for professionals seeking reintegration or a first job, especially in the sales sector. Additionally, the intention to convert nearly half of the temporary hires reinforces the strategic role of these hirings for professional development and for the local economy,” he highlighted.
Profile of Open Vacancies
The study shows that each company should open an average of 1.9 job vacancies at the end of the year.
Among the most in-demand positions are:
- Salesperson (31%)
- Hairdresser (8%)
- Assistant (6%)
- Manicure (6%)
- Clerk (6%)
Moreover, the majority of hires will be for in-person work (87%).
When Hiring Starts
Business owners plan to start hiring at different times:
- 24% in October (an increase of 9% compared to 2024);
- 21% in November;
- 15% in September.
This schedule reinforces the need for candidates to prepare in advance, as end-of-year opportunities tend to be filled quickly.
Compensation and Benefits
The average compensation offered will be R$ 1,819.36.
About 39% of companies will pay a minimum wage (R$ 1,518), while another 39% will offer up to two minimum wages (R$ 3,036).
The average workday is 7 hours and 8 minutes per day.
Among the most common benefits are:
- Transportation voucher (77%);
- Food or meal voucher (60%);
- Profit-sharing or commissions (16%).
Business Owners Optimistic About the Economy
Despite 32% of companies that are not hiring citing economic instability as the main reason, the overall outlook is optimistic.
Roque Pellizzaro Júnior, president of SPC Brazil, assessed:
“Brazilians are seeking opportunities, and the market is moving to meet this demand. We believe that the second half will be a period of growth for small and medium businesses, which are the backbone of our economy.”
Conclusion: Real Chances for Professional Growth
The survey shows that, even in the face of challenges, the end of the year opens up space for thousands of opportunities in Brazil. Moreover, the expectation for hiring and conversion of workers reinforces the importance of this period to drive the economy and generate income.
Thus, those seeking employment should pay special attention to vacancies in commerce and services, as many of them can represent not just a temporary chance, but also the gateway to a solid career.
