Recognition highlights efforts by Volkswagen do Brasil and VWFS to reduce emissions

Volkswagen Financial Services Brasil, in a significant achievement for the Volkswagen Group, received the prestigious Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program. This recognition, linked to the Center for Sustainability Studies at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGVces), is an important milestone, emphasizing the company's commitment to sustainable practices and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This notable achievement, shared with the automaker Volkswagen do Brasil, highlights the companies' alignment with global sustainability goals.

Achieving the highest standard in sustainability

Achieving the Gold Seal, the highest classification of the GHG Protocol, along with ISO 14064-1 certification from the International Organization for Standardization, highlights the ongoing efforts of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) and Volkswagen do Brasil to develop, report and manage inventories of emission of atmospheric pollutants. Rodrigo Capuruço, CEO of VWFS for Brazil and Latin America, highlighted the impact of these achievements, highlighting the company's leading role in the Brazilian mobility market and its alignment with the global decarbonization agenda, Mobility 2030.

Petrina Santos, executive manager of ESG and Sustainability at VWFS Brasil, emphasized the importance of these certificates in the company's journey towards sustainability. She pointed out that obtaining the Gold Seal and ISO 14064-1 is not only a recognition of the company's current transformation, but also a testimony to the robustness and quality of this process.

Validity and renewal: an ongoing commitment

These certifications are valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal, and cover 2022 inventories. They attest that VWFS and Volkswagen do Brasil have prepared complete documentation, verified by independent third parties, in accordance with the standards of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program .

The GHG Protocol initiative in Brazil, adapted to the national context by FGVces, promotes a corporate culture of GHG emissions inventory, stipulating international standards to address climate change in the country. The method assigns Gold, Silver or Bronze seals, based on the transparency and completeness of the data provided by the companies.

Launched in 2008, the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program is the result of collaboration between FGVces, World Resources Institute (WRI), the Ministry of the Environment, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development ( WBSCD) and several founding companies.
