Recognition Highlights Efforts of Volkswagen Brazil and VWFS in Reducing Emissions
Volkswagen Financial Services Brazil, in a significant achievement for the Volkswagen Group, has received the prestigious Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program. This recognition, linked to the Center for Sustainability Studies of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGVces), marks an important milestone, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This remarkable feat, shared with the automaker Volkswagen Brazil, demonstrates the alignment of the companies with global sustainability goals.
Reaching the Highest Standard in Sustainability
Achieving the Gold Seal, the highest classification of the GHG Protocol, along with the ISO 14064-1 certification from the International Organization for Standardization, highlights the continuous efforts of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) and Volkswagen Brazil in developing, reporting, and managing inventories of atmospheric pollutant emissions. Rodrigo Capuruço, CEO of VWFS for Brazil and Latin America, emphasized the impact of these achievements, underscoring the company’s leadership role in the Brazilian mobility market and its alignment with the global decarbonization agenda, Mobility 2030.

Petrina Santos, executive manager of ESG and Sustainability at VWFS Brazil, stressed the importance of these certificates on the company’s journey towards sustainability. She pointed out that obtaining the Gold Seal and ISO 14064-1 is not only a recognition of the company’s current transformation but also a testament to the robustness and quality of this process.
Validity and Renewal: A Continuous Commitment
These certifications are valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal, and cover the 2022 inventories. They confirm that VWFS and Volkswagen Brazil have prepared complete documentation, verified by independent third parties, in accordance with the standards of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program.
The GHG Protocol initiative in Brazil, adapted to the national context by FGVces, promotes a corporate culture of GHG emissions inventory, establishing international standards to address climate change in the country. The method awards Gold, Silver, or Bronze seals based on the transparency and completeness of data provided by companies.
Launched in 2008, the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program is the result of collaboration between FGVces, World Resources Institute (WRI), the Ministry of the Environment, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD), and several founding companies.
