The new stage of the retailer’s expansion involves a million-dollar investment, hiring, and an opening program with the founder’s presence, in another move by the network to expand its operations in the country.

Havan opens a new megastore on Saturday, June 6, in Garibaldi, in the Serra Gaúcha, Rio Grande do Sul.

The unit is located on BR-470, between Garibaldi and Bento Gonçalves, and will open its doors at 10 am, with the presence of businessman Luciano Hang, the founder of the network.

The project received an announced investment of R$ 100 million and created 200 new jobs for local operations.

The new branch will be the 193rd megastore of the network in Brazil and the 22nd in Rio Grande do Sul, according to information released about the opening.

The opening is part of the retailer’s expansion plan, which announced the goal of reaching 200 megastores in the country by the end of 2026.

Havan in Garibaldi will open at 10 am

The inauguration is scheduled for 10 am and will feature programming aimed at the public attending the store on its first day of operation.

According to the company’s announcement, Luciano Hang will participate in welcoming customers and a photo session with the public.

Presentations by singer Carlos Magrão and participation of members from the Indavírus channel are also planned.

The program was announced as part of the official opening of the branch, with no change in the special schedule set for the first day.

After the inauguration, the unit will operate daily, from Monday to Sunday, from 9 am to 10 pm.

On the opening Saturday, however, service will start at 10 am, according to the schedule announced for the store’s arrival in Garibaldi.

Where the new Havan megastore is located

The new unit is located along BR-470, in Garibaldi, in a section located between the municipality and Bento Gonçalves.

The position announced by the company indicates service to consumers from Garibaldi and nearby cities in the Serra Gaúcha.

With about 10,000 square meters, the branch follows the megastore model adopted by Havan in other cities.

The structure includes free parking, a food court, a replica of the Statue of Liberty, and a facade inspired by the White House.

The company also reported that the unit will have ample shopping space.

In the consulted material, there is not enough official detail to list all the sectors that will operate in the Garibaldi store, so the description was kept only on the confirmed points.

Investment of R$ 100 million and jobs

The construction of the Garibaldi megastore had an investment reported of R$ 100 million and resulted in the creation of 200 jobs, according to data released about the opening.

The amount and number of vacancies appear in the most recent communication about the branch’s inauguration.

In a statement attributed to the company, Luciano Hang stated that the opening occurs at a relevant moment for the retailer.

“This is a special moment for us and opening the Garibaldi store now is a very important milestone,” said the businessman, citing the goal of reaching 200 megastores by the end of 2026.

In the same note, Hang linked the inauguration to the company’s national presence plan.

“This year we want to reach the mark of 200 megastores by the end of the year and be present in all Brazilian states,” he stated.

The businessman also commented on the economic impact associated with the opening of the branch.

According to him, the company seeks to promote economic and social development by opening units, generating income for families, and increasing the circulation of consumers in the cities where it starts operating.

Expansion of Havan in Rio Grande do Sul

The Garibaldi branch expands Havan’s presence in Rio Grande do Sul, a state that had already received another unit recently, in Taquara.

The Taquara store was announced by the company as the 192nd megastore of the network in the country, preceding the opening in Garibaldi.

In the institutional material about Taquara, Havan informed that the next opening in Rio Grande do Sul would be the Garibaldi unit.

With the new store, the network now counts 22 megastores in Rio Grande do Sul, according to the data released about the opening.

The movement occurs during the period in which the company marks 40 years of operation.

Havan was founded in 1986 and, in 2026, linked part of the openings to the expansion plan informed for the year.

The goal announced by the retailer is to reach 200 megastores operating in Brazil by the end of 2026.

The company also states that it intends to be present in all Brazilian states, a goal cited by Luciano Hang in the communication about the new unit.

Public Service at the New Unit

The opening in Garibaldi adds a large-scale operation to the local commerce and creates a new physical store option for consumers in the Serra Gaúcha.

The unit will have daily service after the inauguration and will be located on a highway that connects municipalities in the region.

For consumers, the main immediate change will be the availability of a megastore with free parking, food court, and extended hours.

These elements are included in the official description of the branch and are part of the communicated structure for the unit.

In the job market, the data confirmed by the company is the creation of 200 jobs.

Havan did not provide, in the consulted material, the division of vacancies by position, sector, or residence municipality of the hired individuals.

For this reason, the information was kept general.

The inauguration also occurs amid a sequence of openings in Rio Grande do Sul.

With Taquara and Garibaldi, the retailer strengthens its presence in the state while advancing in the unit count informed for 2026.

Inauguration Occurs After Statements by Luciano Hang on the Economy

The new store in Garibaldi also occurs amid recent statements by Luciano Hang about the Brazilian economic environment.

In recent months, the businessman has resumed making public criticisms of proposals under discussion in the country and the costs faced by retail companies.

Among the topics commented on by Hang is the debate about ending the 6×1 schedule in commerce.

In an interview with the press, the businessman stated that a change in the schedule could cause a “collapse” of small and medium-sized retail companies.

Hang also declared that reducing the work schedule would increase costs for the sector and could be passed on to prices, in an assessment made by him when commenting on the possible impacts of the proposal on companies with extended hours of operation.

The recent statements add to previous positions by the businessman on the direction of Brazil.

In 2022, during the electoral period, Hang stated in an interview with Jovem Pan that he was certain the country could “turn into a Venezuela,” referring to the political and economic scenario he feared at that time.

Despite criticisms of the business environment, Havan maintains the expansion plan announced for 2026.

The opening of the Garibaldi unit, with an informed investment of R$ 100 million and the creation of 200 jobs, occurs within the company’s goal of reaching 200 megastores in the country by the end of the year.

With this, the inauguration highlights a contrast between the public assessments made by the entrepreneur about costs and risks for retail and the continuation of the network’s own investments in new units.
