The maritime logistics company Wilson Sons completed the exchange of the barge Trevo Roxo for the Guaíba at Tecon Santa Clara, in Rio Grande do Sul, in June, presenting a greater operational capacity at the terminal. According to available data up to this Saturday (07/09), the company managed to increase transport capacity at the site by about 33% and now intends to take advantage of the new vessel, with even better infrastructure, to expand its presence in the port sector of southern Brazil.
Operational Transport Capacity at Tecon Santa Clara Increases After Barge Exchange by Wilson Sons
Aiming to enhance its presence in the port sector and in transport business in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Wilson Sons conducted an operation at Tecon Santa Clara and increased the terminal’s operational capacity by 33%. To achieve this, the company exchanged the barge known as Trevo Roxo for the newly arrived Guaíba, thus expanding capacity from 120 TEUs to 160 TEUs with the new vessel.
The company ensures a good port relationship through Tecon Santa Clara, operating the facility for 5 years, and during this year of 2022, reached the milestone of 220,000 TEUs transported on the waterway. In addition, the good quality and growth in the capacity of operational transport earned the company a Portos + Brasil 2021 award, held by the Ministry of Infrastructure to recognize the best port complexes across Brazil.

The start of transport operations at Tecon Santa Clara took place during the year 2016 when Wilson Sons and Braskem reactivated Pier IV of the terminal and resumed cargo transport along the Rio Jacuí, between Triunfo and the Porto do Rio Grande, and the terminal has been growing significantly since then.
Tecon Santa Clara began its activities with just one barge and now has two vessels that already serve more than 130 clients, thus ensuring a good presence in the port segment of Rio Grande do Sul.
Among the various products transported through Tecon Santa Clara, the main ones are resins, wood, frozen chicken, rubber, parts and pieces, and household utensils. In addition, the main destination or departure routes include the cities of Farroupilha, Carlos Barbosa, Garibaldi, Caxias do Sul, Veranópolis, Cruz Alta, Lajeado, Taquari, and Serafina Corrêa, which are essential for the terminal to continue expanding its operations.
