With an investment of R$ 27 million, a structure in the south of Rio Grande do Sul will have the capacity for 22,000 animals simultaneously, an annual movement of 120,000 heads, and a focus on Middle Eastern markets
With R$ 27 million invested, Fazenda Sentinela, in Cerrito, in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, was structured to accommodate up to 22,000 cattle at the same time and move 120,000 heads per year. This article includes data from the portal Compre Rural.
Platform targets Middle East with large-scale operation
The Sentinela European Breeds venture places the municipality in a relevant position in the export of live cattle, mainly to markets such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Located on a total area of 157.88 hectares, Fazenda Sentinela reserves 45 hectares exclusively for confinement. The proposal is to concentrate preparation, sanitary management, and logistical organization before international shipment.

The location reinforces the strategic role of the project. The complex is close to BR-293 and about 100 kilometers from the Port of Rio Grande, facilitating the movement of animals to the ships.

Structure has 110 corrals and industrial standard
The static capacity reaches 22,000 heads simultaneously, distributed in three EPE modules. The estimated annual movement is 120,000 animals, according to project information.
The structure includes 110 corrals, 23 internal streets, three management centers, a complete administrative center, a road scale, and parking for heavy vehicles.
The complex also includes 4,320 linear meters of troughs, 25,000 m² of covered confinement, and 15,120 m² of concreted area, forming a physical base aimed at continuous operation.
The machinery park includes six tractors, a backhoe, a loader, six forage wagons, and various agricultural and operational implements used in daily activities.
Technology accompanies the chain to the final customer
Another central point of Fazenda Sentinela is the proprietary operational management system, developed by the company to control the stages of livestock activity.
The tool tracks from the breeding and rearing farm to the final customer, allowing traceability, organization of operations, and greater efficiency in animal control.
In practice, the complex functions as an intermediate stage between rural properties and export ships. Cattle from different regions of Brazil, and even from neighboring countries, arrive at the location before shipment.

Quarantine, adaptation, and veterinary control
Before continuing their journey, the animals undergo periods of adaptation, quarantine, and veterinary monitoring. Protocols with clinical exams, controlled feeding, and specialized monitoring are also applied.
This preparation is necessary because sea voyages can last about 30 days, depending on the destination. Therefore, sanitary management needs to meet increasingly strict international requirements.
The environmental structure includes six waste treatment lagoons, with a total capacity of 11,650 m³, in addition to two artesian wells with a daily intake of 960 m³.
Sustainability, biosecurity, animal welfare, and traceability appear as essential points to access international markets that require specific production, control, and transport standards.
Cerrito expects jobs and more logistical movement
The City Hall of Cerrito estimates that the operation will generate approximately 60 to 70 direct jobs and more than 150 indirect jobs when fully operational.
The flow of trucks and logistical operations is already moving the region. Improvements in local roads are being made to keep up with the increase in the transport of animals and supplies.
The advancement of Fazenda Sentinela occurs in a scenario of transformation in the global protein market, with Middle Eastern countries increasing the demand for live cattle.
The demand meets specific religious protocols and reinforces the internal supply of these countries. In this context, Rio Grande do Sul gains importance after international recognition linked to the sanitary status of Gaucho livestock.
The removal of foot-and-mouth disease vaccination is also mentioned among the factors cited in the material as part of this new regional prominence.
Completion expected by 2026 at the Farm
The expectation is that the entire structure of Fazenda Sentinela will be fully completed by the end of 2026.
With large operational capacity, proximity to the Port of Rio Grande, and a focus on global standards, the project transforms Cerrito into an integrated platform for Brazilian livestock export.
