With tests scheduled for late 2026 and opening in 2027, the fully robot-operated hotel by Pudu Robotics will change tourism in China.

The start of practical tests with real guests in the accommodations of the world’s first fully robot-operated hotel is scheduled for the end of 2026. The experimental phase, which will offer part of the services and rooms to the public to certify the system’s operation, will serve as the basis for the definitive opening of the establishment, expected to happen in 2027.

The futuristic hospitality project was developed by the Chinese company Pudu Robotics and reported by New Atlas.

Located in Guangdong province, on the West Artificial Island — a region connected to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan megabridge — the structure will use corporate artificial intelligence to completely eliminate human staff work, transforming the location into a hub of tourism and innovation.

Robot-operated hotel will have high-standard structure

The automated complex was designed to cater to the premium tourism market, combining cutting-edge technology with complete leisure facilities.

Guests visiting the site will find the following physical facilities:

  • High-standard rooms: A set composed of 44 sophisticated accommodations.
  • Gastronomic area: An in-house restaurant with integrated operation.
  • Health space: A gym equipped for users.

Pudu Robotics intends to use the building as a practical testing ground in the real world.

The technology company’s goal is to have the automation systems validated within the hotel’s premises expanded, at a later stage, to other entertainment and tourism activities within the West Artificial Island.

Division of automated tasks and AI control technology

The complete replacement of human activity in the hotel routine will be possible thanks to an integrated ecosystem that unifies hardware and software.

The robots in charge of the services will divide daily activities through a continuous data flow, controlled by a central digital platform.

To coordinate the operation, the infrastructure will use two integrated technological tools:

  1. PuduFM 1.0: The artificial intelligence model responsible for managing the hotel’s operations and data.
  1. PuduAgent: The software platform responsible for guiding the simultaneous actions of the machines.

This technological support will allow the robots to take on complete functions, operating from the initial reception service to direct support for guests throughout their stay.

Among the mapped mechanical functions, there will be devices intended for transporting luggage from the lobby to the rooms, robots in charge of meal preparation in the kitchen, and cleaning machines equipped with sensors for automatic dirt detection.

Additionally, delivery devices will bring drinks directly to the rooms, responding to commands sent by guests via smartphone.

Founders’ stance on the end of human labor

The Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Pudu Robotics, Cong Guo, detailed that the complete integration of service phases aims to eliminate any kind of commercial pause in service delivery.

In a press conference given to the Xinhua news agency, the executive commented on the autonomous workflow:

“This full scenario model means that Pudu’s robots will be deeply involved in all stages of the hotel’s operations, with no gaps in service and no human interruptions,” the executive highlighted.

Additionally, in official statements released by the company during the project presentation, the technology director emphasized that the initiative represents a fundamental step to incorporate artificial intelligence in luxury scenarios.

“This partnership represents an important step towards the large-scale deployment of embedded intelligence in premium hospitality environments. It also offers an opportunity to explore new service models where artificial intelligence and robotics work together to provide intelligent and comprehensive experiences in the real world,” stated Cong Guo.
