The announcement was made on the second day of meetings, which will last until January 24 (Friday). It is expected that there will be around 32 meetings. Governor João Dória and State Secretaries Patricia Ellen (Economic Development) and Julio Serson (International Relations) are there to present projects and negotiate new international investments.
“This may be one of the main meetings we will have in Davos. There are about R$ 7 billion in investments, which mean, at this moment, over 1,200 guaranteed jobs in the construction of the factory. Today, Bracell announced an additional R$ 1 billion in investments for São Paulo and the commitment to actively participate in Citi (International Center for Technology and Innovation). At the peak of the construction, there will be 11,000 jobs, and when operational, there will be 6,650 job positions in Lençóis Paulista,” said Doria excitedly.

At last year’s World Economic Forum, the São Paulo government secured R$ 7 billion in investments for Bracell in the Bauru region, stimulating other companies in the sector in the area. This time, the economic injection that will generate these job vacancies in Lençóis Paulista will be to implement a gasification plant that will use 100% renewable biomass as raw material to produce biogas.
Social Actions
In a statement, Bracell said it will allocate part of the investments to social and community projects, improving health and public safety in the cities where the company’s projects are implemented. There will also be free professional qualification programs to benefit the economy and local suppliers.
The completion of the construction of this capacity expansion project for Bracell’s factory in SP is scheduled for 2021, employing around 11,000 workers at the peak of the venture. After completion, 6,650 professionals, including outsourced and direct employees, will be hired for industrial operations, environmental, and logistics.
