Amazon Is Investing in Betim, Minas Gerais, with the Opening of a New Distribution Center That Will Generate 250 New Jobs
Amazon, an American multinational company specializing in e-commerce and technological innovation, has expanded its operations in Brazil by announcing the installation of three new distribution centers in Brazil, one of which will be in Betim, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The project is expected to become operational in the coming days and receive investments of 120 million reais. In addition to indirect job openings, the company will initially generate 250 jobs in Minas Gerais, which may exceed 500.

The other new centers will be inaugurated in Santa Maria, in the administrative region of the Federal District, and Nova Santa Rita in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The estimate is that, in total, this investment will immediately generate around 1,500 job vacancies in the country. These distribution centers cover a total of about 75,000 square meters.
Betim’s mayor, Vittorio Medioli, says, “Amazon is arriving at an extremely positive time for Betim and Minas Gerais. We have managed, in three and a half years of government, to expand the city’s road complex, efficiently ensuring logistics operations within the municipality, as well as its connections to other cities and states.”

The multinational states that “As a direct effect of this expansion, more than 500 municipalities have even faster deliveries for Prime (subscription service) members, starting from two days for eligible products, with free shipping and other benefits for those who are part of the program. Brazil is the fastest-growing country for Amazon Prime subscriptions since its launch.”
