Find out everything about the mandatory electronic toll payment system that starts in 2025 and how it will transform Brazil's highways!

Starting in 2025, electronic toll tags will be mandatory on Brazilian highways. This change promises to transform the transportation sector, reduce costs, and optimize traffic flow on the roads. Companies such as Veloe and ConectCar are ready to provide the tags. Prepare for the necessary adaptation and understand the impacts of this new feature.

The Brazilian road transport scenario will undergo a major transformation starting January 1, 2025.

The decision of ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) The implementation of the Mandatory Toll Pass (VPO) exclusively through electronic tags promises to change the routine of drivers, transport companies and logistics companies throughout the country.

What does this change really mean for your pocket and traffic flow on the highways?

Did you know that, for many drivers and companies, mandatory use of the tag can reduce costs and increase efficiency in freight traffic?

That's right! The transition to a fully digital model aims to eliminate bureaucracy and optimize processes.

But there are also those who doubt its effectiveness in the short term. Keep reading to understand the impact of this innovation and whether you are prepared for the change!

Electronic Toll Pass: The Change That Will Revolutionize Brazilian Highways

From 2025 onwards, the use of electronic tags will be the only form of toll payment on highways in Brazil.

This measure, according to ANTT Resolution 6.024/23, appears as an advance in the process of digitalizing road services, replacing the old manual payment systems and accelerating the movement of vehicles.

Companies such as Alelo, Veloe, ConectCar, Greenpass and Move Mais are already ready to provide the tags that will be mandatory for drivers and transporters.

This movement aims, mainly, to reduce bureaucracy and waiting times at toll plazas.

The tags will allow automatic and efficient billing, eliminating the need for manual payment, which promises to make traffic more agile.

The idea is to transform the experience on the highways into something faster, safer and, of course, less costly for everyone involved.

Benefits for Carriers and Logistics Companies

But how does this change really benefit the transport and logistics sector in Brazil?

According to Andrรฉ Turquetto, CEO of Veloe and president of Abepam (Brazilian Association of Automatic Payment Companies for Mobility), the implementation of VPO goes far beyond simplifying payments.

It can provide a number of operational advantages for companies that rely on road transport to do business.

Reducing Operating Costs: A Real Saving

By automating payments, carriers and logistics companies will be able to eliminate administrative costs related to manual payments, which in many cases represent a significant part of operational costs.

Digitizing the process can improve cash flow, as well as increase efficiency in operations.

Reducing bottlenecks at toll plazas and reducing downtime means greater productivity and fuel savings.

It is estimated that the transition to the electronic tag system will generate savings of up to R$7 billion per year for transport companies.

This significant amount can be reinvested in operational improvements, increased competitiveness and, consequently, better service for consumers.

Economic and Logistical Impacts of the New Regulation

In addition to benefiting transport companies, ANTT Resolution No. 6.024/2023 aims to create a positive impact on the sector as a whole, reducing logistics costs and promoting greater competitiveness in Brazil.

Automation in toll payments will allow greater predictability in concessionaires' revenues, which directly impacts the way highways are managed.

This can result in better maintained highways that operate more smoothly.

According to Turquetto, โ€œthis change will create a more efficient and safe environment for everyone involved.

The implementation of the system will strengthen the sector and ensure that payments are made more quickly and transparently.โ€

For him, the VPO will bring a series of improvements, both in the financial aspect and in the country's transport logistics.

Who Needs to Activate the Electronic Tag?

While the resolution directly affects carriers and logistics companies, ordinary drivers will also need to adapt.

From January 2025, all drivers using toll roads will be required to use an electronic tag to pay the toll.

This applies not only to freight vehicles, but also to drivers of private cars, buses and motorcycles.

The Future of Electronic Payment on Highways

With the advancement of technology, electronic payment will become a new standard on Brazilian highways.

Companies are already investing to adapt their systems and make the process even faster and more efficient.

The implementation of the electronic toll pass is expected to expand to all highways in Brazil in the coming years, becoming a fundamental part of the country's transportation infrastructure.

Furthermore, increased adoption of electronic tags could generate new business models and increase integration with other forms of digital payment, such as urban transport systems and international tolls.

Preparing for Change: What You Should Do

Now that you know about the mandatory electronic Toll Pass, the question is: are you ready to do your part?

If you donโ€™t already have an electronic tag, itโ€™s time to get one. Tag providers are prepared to offer drivers and carriers the infrastructure they need to ensure compliance with these new regulations.

Remember: the change is already in effect and anyone who does not comply may face fines and difficulties at toll booths.

What to Expect in 2025?

The transition to the electronic Toll Pass is just the beginning of a series of changes that promise to transform transportation in Brazil.

With benefits such as reduced operating costs and greater fluidity on highways, the digitalization of toll payments tends to accelerate the sector's modernization process.

The only question that remains is: do you already have your electronic tag or are you going to wait to adapt until the last minute?

The last thing they thought about was the Brazilian's pocket. There will certainly be a monthly fee and those who use little or almost nothing will be penalized. Goodbye to many jobs, the only good thing about these **** tolls.

I haven't read anything about the thousands of toll plaza workers. Oh, right, the workers are expendable, consumable material, just a number for the brilliant minds who intend, in quotes, to INNOVATE.
