With The Naval, Technological, And Clean Energy Sectors Highlighted, The State Of Pernambuco Is Experiencing Its Peak In Economic Development And National Recognition

The naval industry in Recife has become one of the pillars of the constant growth of the state of Pernambuco, in the Northeast region of Brazil. The main driver of this is the Suape Port Industrial Complex, which has a conglomerate of 83 national and international companies either in full operation or in the implementation phase. The Port of Suape is directly linked to the economic development of Pernambuco, as investments from national and international capital companies operating there exceed R$ 74.5 billion. Furthermore, the companies located at the Port of Suape generate over 17,000 direct jobs, ensuring the lowest unemployment rate in Recife.

Suape Port Complex Boosts The Economy Of Recife, Generating Jobs And Income For The State Of Pernambuco. Result: The Naval Industry In Recife Is The Best Structured In The Country

The companies at the Port of Suape operate in at least 11 business hubs, which include: Naval and Offshore, Logistics, Food and Beverages, Liquid Bulk and Gases, Petrochemical, Metalworking, Construction Materials, Plastic Preform, Wind Components, Energy Generation, and Pharmaceutical, which is the most recent hub at the Port of Suape.

All these enterprises boost the economy of Recife, as well as assist in the economic development of Pernambuco.

The designation of Port Industrial Complex was given to the Port of Suape precisely because it is the most complete in the Brazilian Northeast, as it receives, distributes, and exports raw materials, finished products, and basic inputs, ensuring strong investments in Recife and throughout the state of Pernambuco.

The Port Of Suape Is Not The Only One Contributing To The Economy Of Pernambuco: Digital Port Puts Recife In A Prominent Position In The Field Of Technology And Innovation

Investments In Recife: Moving to the technology area, the economy of Recife also includes the innovative Digital Port, considered the largest urban and open technological park in the country.

Located in the heart of Recife’s downtown, the Digital Port operates in software production and provides Information And Communication Technology services, Creative Economy, and is also focused on reshaping the future of Pernambucan cities through prototyping based on digital manufacturing and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Digital Port is currently a national reference, born from a joint action between the state government, academia, and companies, known as the “Triple Helix.”

Through this initiative, the Digital Port has become one of the main innovation environments in Brazil, having been elected the best technological park in the country three times in 2007, 2011, and 2015. The award was given by the National Association of Promoters of Innovative Enterprises, Anprotec.

Formed by only 3 companies and 46 people at its inception, the Digital Port currently has over 400 companies, government agencies, and promotion organizations.

The annual revenue exceeds R$ 5 billion and it is considered the 3rd largest service sector in Recife. Among the multinationals operating at the Digital Port are Liferay, Accenture, and NTT DATA.

Clean Energy Sector In Pernambuco Is Also Noteworthy: Distributed Generation (GD) Reaches A New Mark In The State

Pernambuco also celebrates a new and important achievement in the clean energy sector: the state reached the mark of 1 gigawatt (GW) of installed capacity in its own electric power generation, the famous Distributed Generation (GD). With this, Pernambuco becomes the third state in the Brazilian Northeast to reach this capacity.

Prior to Pernambuco, Ceará holds the first place with 1.13 GW and Bahia is in second place with 1.2 GW. These achievements demonstrate that the adoption of clean energy generation in the Northeast region is growing and consolidating further.

The expansion of the clean energy sector in Pernambuco is driven by the capital Recife and the cities of Petrolina and Caruaru, which have a high number of Consumer Units (UCs), thus opting for their own energy generation.

The clean energy sector in Pernambuco – just like the naval industry in Recife and the applied technology sector – represents the strengthening of Recife’s economy and that of the entire state of Pernambuco, as it also generates jobs and income, positively impacting the economic development of Pernambuco.

In addition, the solar energy sector has been betting on the development of new technologies, boosting job creation, training of new professionals, and also the rise of new local businesses, such as equipment suppliers and specialists in installation and maintenance services.
