Subsea 7 Confirms Award of Major Contract to Seaway7 for Offshore Wind Power Development in the UK
The offshore industry giant, Subsea 7 S.A., confirmed today the granting of a significant contract to Seaway7, a subsidiary of the Subsea7 Group. The ScottishPower Renewables awarded the contract for the transportation and installation of foundations and cables for the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm in the UK. The contract announcement comes a year after the preferred bidder was disclosed.
East Anglia THREE: Progress in Offshore Wind Power in the UK
The East Anglia THREE wind farm, located in the North Sea, 69 kilometers off the coast of Suffolk in the UK, will become the second largest wind farm in the world when it begins operations in 2026. The farm, equipped with 95 turbines of 14.7MW, will have a total capacity of 1,400MW. The power generation will be enough to meet the electricity demand of more than 1.3 million homes with green energy.
Seaway7, one of the leaders in offshore wind energy, will play a vital role in delivering the project. The scope of its work includes the transportation, logistics, and installation of 95 monopile foundations, seabed preparation, and erosion protection. In addition, the company will also be responsible for the engineering, supply, and installation of the 95 internal cables. Seaway7 will utilize heavy-lift vessels, cable installation boats, and its heavy transport fleet to manage the significant transportation scope.

Every time a river flows into the sea, an amount of energy equivalent to a 120-meter waterfall is silently wasted, but Japan has just inaugurated the world’s first power plant that captures this waste and transforms it into electricity 24 hours a day without sun, wind, or fuel.

Seaway7 and Subsea 7 Driving Renewable Energy in the UK
Seaway7, with the support of its parent company Subsea 7, will lead the project’s execution from its offices in Aberdeen and Sutton in the UK. The project will advance from the initial engineering work throughout 2023, with offshore activities scheduled to begin in 2024.
