A Petrobras announced today that it has completed the receipt of 298 million U.S. $ relating to the sales contract of the Polo Carmópolis (SE) to Carmo Energy. The value includes adjustments and late payment charges due, and represents the last installment of the sales agreement, which expired on December 20th. of the last year.
O Polo Carmópolis is an important oil exploration field, located in Sergipe. The sale to Carmo Energy is part of the strategy of Petrobras of divestment and cost reduction, aiming to strengthen its operations in other strategic areas. With the completion of payment, the company reinforces its financial position and continues to move towards new challenges and growth opportunities.
Expansion of the Carmópolis Hub by Carmo Energy
A Carmo Energy acquired the asset in December 2021, for a significant amount of US$ 1,1 billion. According to information from Petrobras, a total of US$275 million was paid as a down payment at the time, and the other US$548 million was disbursed in December last year, the closing date of the transaction.

The Carmópolis Hub covers a set of 11 concessions land fields of oil and gas production, with integrated facilities, located in the state of Sergipe.
Carmo Energy achieves an average of 6 thousand barrels/day of oil at the hub, according to data from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP).
Petrobras Divestment and Development Program
The field was included in Petrobras' divestment program during Jair Bolsonaro's government.
Carmópolis is known as the largest onshore field in Brazil, with an original volume of 1,76 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Furthermore, it is the oldest in Sergipe, having started production in 1963.
In 2017, after reviewing the field development plan, Petrobras predicted that the recovery factor could reach 32%.
