Entity Announces Reappointment of Leaders and Inclusion of New Names in Its Governance
On Monday, September 15, 2025, the Brazilian Association of Oil and Gas Goods and Services (ABESPetro) approved, during a meeting of member companies, the new formation of the Board of Directors that will operate between 2026 and 2028.
According to the decision, there was the reappointment of Rodrigo Ribeiro from Constellation as president and Lauro Puppim from Saipem as vice-president, ensuring continuity in management. In addition, the meeting marked the entry of new prominent names from the oil and gas industry, reinforcing the strategic governance of the entity.
Main Changes in the Board Composition
Among the most relevant changes, Luiz Roberto Capellotto from Baker Hughes joins the board, taking the place of Francesco Santoro, a consultant and former executive from companies such as PPSA, Oceaneering, and Technip Group.
-
While Brazil sets records in solar and wind energy, the electrical system shuts down power plants every day because the transmission lines can’t handle it — and the losses have already exceeded R$ 5 billion in three years.
-
Brazil grows less than its neighbors despite the advantage of oil, says IMF, while Venezuela could access up to $5 billion.
-
American company acquires rare earth mine in Brazil for R$ 13.9 billion.
-
Petrobras puts R$ 15 billion on the table and begins studies with artificial intelligence in the Marajó Basin, while projecting US$ 2.5 billion in the Equatorial Margin to explore 37 strategic sedimentary basins in Brazil.
Another confirmed name is Ivan Cruz, an executive from Subsea 7, who strengthens the group in a staggered replacement as outlined by the staggered term rules implemented in 2024. These changes reflect the strategy to maintain diversity of perspectives and continuous renewal within ABESPetro’s governance.
Staggered Term Structure
According to the management model approved in 2024, terms on the Board are divided into two blocks of four members, with staggered periods, ensuring a continuous flow of ideas and stability in governance.
The division is defined as follows:
- From January 15, 2024, to January 14, 2028:
- Lauro Puppim (Saipem)
- Hugo Neto (Halliburton)
- Jonas Lobo (SBM)
- Luana Duffe (TechnipFMC)
- From January 15, 2026, to January 14, 2030:
- Rodrigo Ribeiro (Constellation)
- Ivan Cruz (Subsea 7)
- Luiz Capellotto (Baker Hughes)
- Simão Silva (Oceaneering)
Thus, according to the entity, the planned alternation strengthens the institutional continuity and ensures greater strategic participation of global companies in the sector.
Continuity of Management and Strategic Governance
According to an official statement, the members advocated for the maintenance of the current management model initiated in 2024, when ABESPetro made adjustments to its leadership rules. With this, the association seeks to enhance diversity of perspectives and transparency in governance, consolidating its role as a representative of the goods and services companies in the oil and gas sector.
Importance of ABESPetro to the Sector
Founded on March 8, 2004, ABESPetro brings together 55 member companies, all large, which are among the leading suppliers of technology, services, and equipment for the oil and gas exploration and production chain in Brazil.
Currently, according to official data from the entity, the member companies are responsible for 80,000 direct jobs and around 600,000 indirect jobs throughout the production chain. This representation reaffirms ABESPetro’s role as a strategic link between private companies and public policies in the energy sector.
This model reinforces ABESPetro’s commitment to transparency, alternation, and active participation of globally relevant companies, ensuring greater representation and alignment with the strategic challenges of the oil and gas industry in Brazil. After all, how to maintain the competitiveness of the sector without governance that unites tradition and innovation?
