A Acer announced this week a rather unusual product for its portfolio. The Taiwanese company, known for producing laptops and electronic equipment, officially announced an electric bicycle named ebii. The model features a clean and futuristic design, developed for the urban environment.
Electric Bicycle With AI Reaches Up To 32 Km/h
Keeping up with the trend taking over the internet, Acer’s electric bicycle comes equipped with AI features. The system can learn the cyclist’s riding habits and even changes gears automatically while on the road.
The bicycle weighs around 16 kg, making it lighter than most competitors. Its top speed is 20 mph, or 32 km/h, according to the company. When it comes to range, the ebii does not disappoint and can reach about 112 km per charge, according to the Taiwanese manufacturer. For a full charge, the vehicle should be plugged in for about two and a half hours.

Another interesting feature of the model is the ability to use it as a kind of portable charger. Acting like other competing models, the AI-equipped vehicle can be used to charge a smartphone or even power a laptop, for example. One of the interesting aspects of the new electric bicycle is its internal 460W lithium-ion battery.
Acer’s Electric Bicycle Comes With Its Own App
The ebiiGO app allows users to lock the model remotely and also provides data on battery duration, speed, recommended routes, and much more right at their fingertips. According to Acer, for security reasons, the electric bicycle with AI is automatically locked whenever the owner’s cellphone moves away from the model.
Additionally, an anti-theft alarm is included in the package. Lastly, additional features include: collision detection sensors, front and rear lighting system, and puncture-proof tires that operate without air.
For now, Acer has not announced the arrival date of its new “toy” or the cost; however, judging by the features present in the model, such as AI, it is likely not to be one of the cheaper models. It is worth mentioning that artificial intelligence is a field that combines computer science with robust data sets to enable problem-solving. It also bridges the secondary fields of machine learning and deep learning.
Meet Acer
Founded in the 1970s by Stan Shih, Acer is a company in the ICT sector that holds the title of the first Taiwanese company to become a multinational. The company, based in New Taipei, also has operations in the United States and China, but extends its reach to 160 countries and employs about 7,500 people.
With a focus on research, manufacturing, design, sales, and support of products such as personal computers, display laptops, projectors, tablets, servers, and smartphones, the company also offers e-business solutions for governments, home users, and educators.
At the beginning of its history, Acer was merely a distributor of electronic parts and a consultancy in the use of microprocessor technology. However, over time, it became one of the largest PC producers in the world, gaining prominence in Brazil and other countries. Notably, in Brazil, the company halted production of equipment in the 1990s for operational reasons.
