Accident in the Campos Basin: Man falls into the sea and is missing for more than 24 hours

Patrol ships and helicopters have been looking for the Bravante company employee since the 18th (yesterday) at 17 pm.

[supsystic-social-sharing id='1′]Another sad reality for those who work in this type of service provision, an accident involving a worker from a shipping company ended up disappearing during a support operation. The accident happened in the Campos Basin aboard the vessel Clean Sea III, about 128 kilometers from the nearest coast, in Macaé-RJ. The Navy is looking for him with a patrol vessel, the Brazilian Air Force with an aircraft and a Petrobras support helicopter, all committed to finding him.

The Navy in a statement said it will open an investigation to identify what caused the accident and who is to blame.. The company he was providing maritime support service to was Bravante. He was identified as Francisco das Chagas Oliveira da Silva Filho, 23 years old, a sailor and was doing maintenance on the gangway of the vessel, which was in the Campos Basin, on the outskirts of the FPSO Cidade Rio das Ostras, according to the Sindicado dos Petroleiros do Norte Fluminense .

The Navy requests that the vessels that are in the vicinity of the event, help in the searches to increase the search area. Bravante and Petrobras are providing full support to the family at this time. Click Petróleo e Gás is trying to contact the company to collect more information without success. What we can do at the moment is hope that everything works out.

In June of this year, there was another accident with 3 fatalities in a unit chartered by Odebrecht during maintenance of a boiler on board the NS-32, which also occurred in the Merlim field in the Campos Basin at the time. Unfortunately, we live on units with a high degree of danger, it is essential to obey all safety standards, no matter how routine the activity is.
