Xiaomi launches the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 for 699 yuan, with Bluetooth 5.2, extra black ink, new papers, and app features.

Xiaomi has renewed its line of desktop photo printers with the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2, a compact model priced at 699 yuan, approximately R$ 527, bringing changes focused on mobile connectivity and the final image result. The new version replaces the Photo Printer 1S from 2020 and focuses its advancements on three fronts: four-color printing, direct use via Bluetooth 5.2, and a greater variety of papers.

Xiaomi’s launch is not just about maintaining a small printer for home use, but expanding the type of photo that can be produced on the device. The inclusion of a black layer, laminated finishes, and app tools indicate an attempt to deliver images with more definition, contrast, and customization possibilities before printing.

Xiaomi changes connection and dispenses with Wi-Fi network

In the new generation, communication between the phone and printer is done via Bluetooth 5.2. With this, the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 leaves behind the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi used in the Photo Printer 1S and allows the smartphone to send images directly to the equipment, without relying on a configured home network.

The change does not limit the collective use of the device. Even working via Bluetooth, the printer accepts simultaneous photo submissions from multiple users, a feature designed for situations where more than one person needs to print images on the same equipment. Thus, Xiaomi maintains the idea of practicality without keeping the model tied to the router.

Black ink to enhance image strength

The most relevant technical point of the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 is the change in the color system. The previous version worked with three shades, while the new printer uses four, thanks to the addition of black ink in the printing process.

This change was designed to improve the appearance of dark areas, reinforce contours, and make texts sharper when they appear in images. In photos with high contrast or small details, the extra layer can help prevent loss of definition, giving Xiaomi a direct argument for evolution compared to the generation released in 2020.

Paper and Finish Options

The Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 also gains more flexibility in the type of material accepted. The equipment can work with 6-inch photographic papers, professional versions of the same size, 3-inch square stickers, and double 4-inch photographic paper.

The difference is not limited to the format. Xiaomi also added lamination options with varied textures, going beyond the traditional glossy finish of the Photo Printer 1S. With this, the same printer can cater to simple photos to materials with a more elaborate appearance, depending on the chosen paper and finish.

Xiaomi App Brings Together Editing, Filters, and Augmented Reality

Before printing, the user can prepare the image through the app compatible with the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2. The platform brings together eight filters, color adjustments with LUT, and an intelligent mode focused on document photos, concentrating on the phone steps that previously depended on separate editing.

Another planned feature is support for augmented reality photos. In this case, the print works together with digital elements associated with the image, expanding the use of the printer beyond the traditional photo development.

Printer Maintains Compact Proposal for Tables and Shelves

Even with internal changes and new features, the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 remains aimed at small spaces. The body became slightly larger than the Photo Printer 1S, but Xiaomi maintained the compact format, suitable for placing on a table, counter, or shelf.

The proposal is to combine photo printing, direct connection with the smartphone, and adjustments in the app into a simple-to-use device. The price of 699 yuan positions the novelty as an update to the line, not as a category change within the brand’s portfolio of compact printers.

Xiaomi has revamped the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 to deliver a more complete experience in desktop photo printing. The new model combines Bluetooth 5.2, a four-color system, papers in different formats, lamination with textures, and editing features in the app, while maintaining the compact design that marked the previous generation.
