Volkswagen Says Goodbye to the VW Gol and Announces New Promising Model in the Market, with Starting Price Below R$ 90 Thousand.
As one of the global giants in the automotive industry, Volkswagen surprised everyone with a launch that promises to be a true “nightmare” for the competition. As reported by Diário do Comércio, after 42 years of a striking presence in the market and 27 years as the best-selling car in Brazil, the iconic VW Gol ceased production last year, paving the way for a new Volkswagen.
Introducing the New Polo Track from Volkswagen for the Brazilian Market
To fill the gap left by a new launch, Volkswagen redesigned the MPI version of the Polo, creating the Polo Track. This variant, already launched in Brazil, has the important mission of replacing the brand’s entry-level hatch and keeping the legacy of the VW Gol alive until a new project is introduced.
The Polo Track has quickly established itself as an attractive option for those seeking a quality car. In early November, the official Volkswagen website already showed the adjusted prices of the model. In October, the Polo Track was available for R$ 86,390, but is now being sold for R$ 87,290, representing an increase of R$ 900.

The Trajectory of the VW Gol in Brazil
Launched in 1980 by Volkswagen, the Gol said goodbye to the Brazilian market in 2022, closing a 42-year cycle marked by success and passion. A sales leader in its segment for 27 consecutive years, from 1987 to 2014, the Gol cemented its place with an impressive production of 8.6 million units, setting a record in the country.
The model, beloved by Brazilians, underwent several evolutions over the years, spanning three distinct generations (G1 to G8) and featuring several special series, including the memorable Last Edition, which sold out quickly after launch.
The first version of the Gol to arrive in Brazil was available in two configurations, S and L, both with two doors. Equipped with a 1.3-liter engine, the Gol offered 42 horsepower and 9.2 kgfm of torque, combined with a 4-speed manual transmission. This mechanical setup was more than enough to drive the hatch and win the hearts of Brazilian consumers.
Possible Arrival of New Volkswagen Car in the Brazilian Market
Despite efforts to maintain secrecy, information about the so-called Project 246 from Volkswagen has emerged, revealing plans for a new compact SUV aimed at emerging markets. Known as Volkswagen Yeh in Brazil, this vehicle has the potential to fill the space left by the VW Gol, whose production was ceased by the German brand earlier this year.
According to available information, the new Volkswagen model will be built on the MQB-A00 platform, a simplified variant of the chassis used on the Polo.
The name of the car may have already been defined. Additionally, there are plans for the manufacture of the successor to the Gol at the Volkswagen facility in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo, signaling a significant investment from the automaker in diversifying its product lineup in Brazil.
