“I found that I could lie completely in it and have everything I needed,” she said. For the past 14 months, Kai has lived entirely inside the small Mercedes-Benz automobile, turning what many would consider impossible into a functional and even comfortable routine.

At 1.65 meters tall, and with the car measuring 1.73 meters, the space is just enough for her to lie completely stretched out.
“My head faces the dashboard, and I can see the stars at night through the windshield,” she said.
The makeshift setup, although it seems uncomfortable, was planned with precision. She claims that the air bed is quite comfortable and that the secret lies in organizing everything functionally.
Kai keeps her “survival food” and snacks in boxes in the trunk, along with a portable stove, spare parts, and clothes.
In the front space, there’s still room for three gallons of water and personal hygiene products. Everything is designed to be compact and accessible.
How The Woman Deals With Basic Needs
Not even the lack of a bathroom stopped Kai from maintaining this lifestyle. “Normally, since I’m an experienced backpacker, I go out for outdoor activities,” she explained.
But, on rainy or extremely cold days, she improvises. Inside the car, she uses a litter box with cat litter, which serves as her “emergency bathroom.”
“My emergency bathroom is right here. There’s a trash can inside another trash can,” she described, demonstrating the system in the video.
The solution, although unusual, reflects the practicality and uncomplicated spirit with which she lives her life.
A Trend That Is Growing Among Americans
According to the website autoinsurance.com, living in a car is legal in most U.S. states, as long as the driver follows local rules regarding vagrancy and parks only in designated areas, such as campgrounds and truck stops.
