Stellantis Is Strongly Criticized For Using Home Office As A Maneuver For Mass Dismissals
The automotive giant Stellantis, which controls brands such as Jeep, Peugeot, Citroën, Dodge, and Chrysler, is at the center of an international controversy following the abrupt dismissal of 400 employees via video calls. The company called employees to work remotely, under the pretext of “important operational meetings”—but in practice, used the home office as a strategy to carry out mass dismissals, according to the website Xataka.
Mass Virtual Dismissal Causes Anger
The dismissal decision, made at the end of March in the United States, was classified by many employees as “cold, inhumane, and strategic”. One of the dismissed employees even referred to the action as a “corporate massacre”, criticizing what he considered a pursuit of “profit at any cost”.
“They could have done this differently. We are not numbers”, expressed one of the affected individuals.
