After Gasoline and Diesel, Petrobras Reduces Gas Price for the Second Time in September, Which Is 6% Cheaper and Relieves the Consumer Pocket
After the price of gasoline plummeted consecutively and diesel had another drop last Tuesday (09/20), it was time for cooking gas to follow the trend of fuel price reductions, which starting this Thursday, 09/22, will be cheaper at Petrobras refineries.
It is important to note that this is the second time in September that Petrobras has reduced the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
According to the oil company, the average price of the product will go from the refineries to the distributors at 3.7842 reais per kilo, which represents a decrease of 6% compared to the previous price of 4.0265 reais. Thus, the 13 kg gas cylinder will cost 49.19 reais, a reduction of 3.15 reais.

Petrobras announces an investment of R$ 2.8 billion in Amazonas to expand natural gas production in Urucu and modernize the river fleet, boosting energy, logistics, and the regional economy with new vessels adapted for operation in the Amazon.
“This reduction follows the evolution of reference prices and is consistent with Petrobras’ pricing practices, which seeks to balance its prices with the market, but without passing on the short-term volatility of quotations and the exchange rate to domestic prices,” said the oil company in a statement.
As usual, President Jair Bolsonaro announced the reduction on his Twitter, emphasizing that “the federal tax on cooking gas is ZERO.”
It is worth remembering that at the beginning of this month, the Brazilian oil company had already announced a cut of 7% in the sale price of gasoline for distributors, which went from 3.53 reais to 3.28 reais per liter, a reduction of 0.25 real. This reduction for this fuel was the fourth consecutive one in less than two months.
Diesel Also Became Cheaper Last Tuesday (09/20)!
Last Tuesday (09/20), the average sale price of diesel from Petrobras for distributors dropped from R$ 5.19 to R$ 4.89 per liter, a reduction of R$ 0.30 per liter.
Considering the mandatory blend of 90% diesel A and 10% biodiesel for the composition of the diesel sold at gas stations, Petrobras’ share in the consumer price will go from R$ 4.67, on average, to R$ 4.40 for each liter sold at the pump.
In order to contribute to price transparency and better understanding for society, Petrobras publishes on its website information regarding the formation and composition of fuel prices to consumers.
