The Oil And Gas Organizations Abrace, Abpip, And IBP Will Join To Monitor State Laws In Brazil And Will Create A Ranking Of Natural Gas Markets For More Transparency In This Segment.
The Brazilian Association of Large Energy Consumers and Free Consumers (Abrace), in partnership with the Brazilian Independent Oil Producers Association (Abpip) and the Brazilian Institute of Oil (IBP), are, this Tuesday (07/26), launching a project to monitor state laws regarding the commercialization of natural gas. Thus, the gas markets in each Brazilian state will be ranked by the organizations, which aim to bring more transparency regarding the free trade of fuel in Brazil.
Partnership Between Abrace, Abpip, And IBP In Monitoring State Laws On Natural Gas Commercialization Will Enable The Creation Of A Market Ranking
The current scenario of fuels in Brazil witnesses a significant commercial opening in the natural gas markets in each state, and to ensure more efficiency and transparency at this moment, Abrace, along with Abpip and IBP, will monitor the state laws for the commercialization of the product.
In Brazil, each state has its own legislation for the fuel market, and in a moment of commercial opening, it is essential to verify the quality and commitment to consumers of these laws.

Abrace currently publishes, on its own, the State Regulatory Ranking, with the main data and surveys concerning the state legislation on the natural gas market. With the partnership with Abpip and IBP, the organization intends to continue this work but with more efficiency and transparency in the surveys, thereby improving studies on how the commercialization of fuel is occurring in each national state.
Thus, Abpip will represent independent oil and natural gas producers in Brazil, while IBP represents not only large oil and gas producers but also other companies in the industry, such as gas marketers and transporters.
The partnership will allow for the inclusion of other parameters in the surveys regarding state laws and the natural gas market in each Brazilian region, not limiting it only to what is already conducted by Abrace. According to the organizations, work on the first national ranking of regulations should begin in August.
Producers And Consumers Are Working Together For Fairer State Laws And The Abrace Ranking Will Contribute To That
Currently, modifications and additions to new state laws regarding the commercialization of natural gas in each region have involved the participation and contribution of fuel producers and consumers, who are working towards fairer regulation.
These agents continue to push for their rules to remain aligned with the new federal Gas Law, and the ranking from Abrace, Abpip, and IBP will help make this happen.
The executive director of Natural Gas at IBP, Sylvie D’Apote, commented on the future processes of the partnership and the current results of the regulations, saying: “The participation of other entities, such as IBP and Abpip, will allow this instrument to be enhanced by the inclusion of new parameters. We have achieved good results in meetings with regulatory agencies, in most states. In Rio Grande do Norte and Amazonas, we have significantly improved legislation, facilitating access to the free market for consumers.”
Now, the new ranking from Abrace, Abpip, and IBP will reflect the views of the various agents operating in the gas market and could make the state natural gas market even more efficient in all regions of Brazil.
