The Company and Its ESG Agenda
Atiaia Renováveis, a company of the Cornélio Brennand Group focused on the generation and commercialization of renewable energy, has as one of its main pillars the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda.
The company understands that being 100% renewable means making commitments that promote sustainable transformation in society as a whole. In this context, Atiaia Renováveis has been developing socio-environmental projects in indigenous communities of Xingu and Xavante in the state of Mato Grosso for more than 13 years.
The Basic Environmental Program for Indigenous Components
Launched in 2008, the Basic Environmental Program for Indigenous Components began with the preparation of the Indigenous Component Study (ECI) in the Xavante and Xingu Indigenous Lands (TI).

The findings of the study were approved by FUNAI and the indigenous peoples, establishing various programs focused on environmental, sociocultural, and economic aspects. These programs include actions such as the PBA Management Program, the Social Communication Program, the Social and Economic Development Program, and the Ethnoenvironmental Sustainability Program.
Actions and Results of the Programs
Among the actions promoted by the programs are the creation of a Managing Committee and Councils formed by leaders from the upper, middle, and lower Xingu, and the establishment of a community radio within the Social Communication Program.
The Infrastructure and Environmental Recovery Training Program offers, among other activities, workshops for the recovery of degraded areas and the construction of nurseries and seed houses.
Yakã, the Brand Representing Socio-environmental Projects
To give greater visibility to the cause and commitment to sustainable transformation, a logo called Yakã was created, which means “river” in Guarani.
This brand highlights the importance of this natural element in the lives of indigenous communities and serves as an identifier of the actions carried out by the programs.
Respect and Collaboration with Indigenous Communities
According to Ligia Guedes, Environmental Manager at Atiaia Renováveis, the company seeks to preserve human life, biodiversity, and sustainability, respecting the values, culture, and traditions of indigenous communities.
All actions taken have the authorization of the indigenous peoples and FUNAI, demonstrating the company’s attention to the social context of Brazil’s indigenous peoples.
