New $3.6 Billion Bomber Launched in the United States Is Capable of Carrying Weapons That Haven’t Even Been Invented Yet and Is Being Called an Invisible Airplane
The B-21, the newest stealth bomber of the United States Air Force, was unveiled to the public last week. The invisible airplane will be able to carry both nuclear and conventional weapons, in addition to its unique capability of transporting weapons that have not yet been created.
On Friday, February 2, at the Northrop Grumman facilities in California, the B-21 Raider was displayed to the public for the first time since its announcement. However, technical details of the aircraft are being kept under wraps for now.
Despite this, the United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, stated that the invisible airplane was built using a “open system architecture”. According to him, this allows the aircraft to be equipped with new types of armaments in development that have not yet been conceived.

There are rumors that the invisible airplane could fly unmanned, which is another major point of differentiation. A spokesperson for the United States Air Force said the aircraft is prepared for the possibility of unmanned flight, but no decision has been made for this function at the moment.
In short, Austin stated that the aircraft will provide considerable advancements over the bombers already deployed in the United States fleet and added that: “even the most modern air defense systems would fail to locate the B-21 in the sky,” which is why the aircraft is being considered an invisible airplane.
This concept, according to Austin, represents the culmination of fifty years of progress in low-observable technology. According to the manufacturer, this particular aircraft is part of the “next generation of stealth”.
United States Plans to Have About 100 B-21 Aircraft, Each Could Cost More Than $700 Million, About R$ 3.654 Billion at Current Rates
It has been thirty years since the last aircraft of this type was put into production, and the new one is designed to gradually replace the aircraft that the United States operated during the Cold War. This refers to the B-1 and B-2 variants, respectively.
According to BBC and Bloomberg, each bomber could cost more than $700 million (around R$ 3.654 billion at current rates), and the United States plans to have a fleet of 100 of them. The initiative to build an invisible airplane, purchase, and eventually operate the B-21 required a total investment of $203 billion.
