Government Authorizes Use of 2,277 m² Lot for Roadwork and Strengthens Integration Between the Capital and Itaparica Island
The Bahia Government published in the State Official Gazette (DOE), on October 14, 2025, the decree that authorizes the expropriation of an area of 2,277 m² in Salvador.
The measure aims to create new road accesses for the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state.
The decree, signed by Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), reinforces the commitment to urban mobility and boosts regional development, strengthening the integration between Salvador and Itaparica Island.
Area Will Be Used for Access to the Bridge
According to the State Official Gazette, the decree defines the area as of public utility and determines its use for construction of access roads.
These roads will connect the capital of Bahia to the main structure of the bridge, ensuring traffic fluidity and improving regional mobility.
Additionally, the government authorized the Concessionaire Sistema Rodoviário Ponte Salvador Ilha de Itaparica S.A. to directly execute all administrative and judicial acts to make the process effective.
Thus, the company will negotiate and pay compensations to the owners, ensuring agility and transparency in the expropriation.
Measure Boosts Bahia’s Infrastructure
The decree highlights that the land belongs to private individuals, excluding public assets.
The Bahia Department of Infrastructure (Seinfra) validated the necessary technical projects and studies, ensuring legal security and administrative efficiency.
The land, located in Salvador (BA), has improvements and will serve to improve vehicle flow in the region.
In this way, the government optimizes urban traffic, integrates strategic areas and strengthens regional development.
This action demonstrates the continuous advancement of state infrastructure and proves the management’s commitment to modernizing the road network.

Concessionaire Will Have Immediate Possession and Accelerated Timelines
The bridge concessionaire may take possession of the land immediately, if there is a need for urgent execution.
This decision allows accelerating the project timeline and ensures that the phases progress within the scheduled deadlines.
Thus, the government maintains the planned pace and ensures efficiency in project execution.
The goal is to complete the connection between Salvador and Itaparica within the technical calendar, avoiding delays and additional costs.
Furthermore, the state reinforces the importance of the project, which generates jobs, boosts the economy, and expands regional mobility.
Government Ensures Transparency and Compliance with the Law
The government ensures total transparency in all stages of the process, following current legal and environmental standards.
The Seinfra thoroughly evaluated the coordinates and limits of the area, according to the Single Annex of the decree, which ensures precision and technical control.
Although the exact location has not been disclosed, the government confirmed that the expropriation does not affect public assets or environmental preservation areas.
Thus, the project maintains social responsibility, governance, and sustainability, fully complying with current legislation.
Salvador-Itaparica Bridge Will Be a Historical Landmark for Regional Integration
The Salvador-Itaparica Bridge, with 12.4 kilometers in length, will be one of the largest in Latin America.
The project reduces travel time between Salvador, the Baiano Recôncavo, and the southern part of the state, favoring tourism and regional trade.
Since 2020, the project has been executed through a public-private partnership (PPP), under the coordination of Seinfra and the Bahia Planning Department (Seplan).
With this expropriation, the government reinforces the commitment to sustainable development and modernizes the state’s road infrastructure.
The publication in the DOE represents a concrete advancement in the construction of the bridge, consolidating the strategic planning and ensuring continuous progress in regional mobility.
Thus, Bahia continues to unite regions, attract investments, and expand opportunities, demonstrating administrative efficiency and a vision for the future.
