Rio Grande do Sul Penal Police Contest opens hundreds of vacancies for candidates with medium and higher education levels, with initial salaries close to R$ 10,000 and selection scheduled for August in different areas of prison administration.

Rio Grande do Sul has published a public contest notice for the Penal Police with 213 immediate vacancies, in addition to a reserve register, in medium and higher-level positions.

The opportunities cover roles related to both prison security and the administrative and technical area, expanding the chances for candidates with different academic backgrounds and professional profiles.

The available positions are part of one of the most anticipated selections in the public security area in the state, mainly due to the stability offered in public service and the salaries considered attractive for starting a career.

The opportunities have initial salaries of up to R$ 9,745.26, a 40-hour weekly workload, and exams scheduled for August 9, 2026.

The selection will be organized by Fundatec and includes three careers: penal police officer, penal police analyst, and administrative technician of the Penal Police.

The approved candidates will enter Class A, according to the initial structure provided for the positions in the notice.

Penal Police RS salaries reach R$ 9.7 thousand

The highest initial salary is for the penal police analyst, with a subsidy of R$ 9,745.26.

For a penal police officer, the initial remuneration is R$ 6,305.76, while the administrative technician position offers a salary of R$ 5,159.25.

The distribution of vacancies includes 121 opportunities for analysts, 84 for penal police officers, and 8 for administrative technicians.

There will also be a reserve register, which can be used according to the needs of public administration and the rules of the notice.

It is expected that new calls may occur during the validity period of the contest, depending on the demand of the Gaucho Penal Police and the budget availability of the state government.

In recent years, contests related to public security in Rio Grande do Sul have seen high demand, especially among candidates seeking job stability and the possibility of career progression.

Requirements to compete for the contest vacancies

To apply for the position of penal police officer, the candidate must have a complete higher education in any field.

The career also requires a National Driver’s License, at least in category B, a requirement provided for all positions in the contest.

The analyst positions are intended for candidates with higher education in specific areas, such as Law, Psychology, Social Work, Engineering, Nutrition, Computer Science, Architecture, Nursing, Pharmacy, Pedagogy, and other specialties provided in the announcement.

For the administrative technician role, the requirement is a complete high school education.

The role is aimed at providing administrative support to the institution and may involve internal activities related to document organization, customer service, process control, and operational support to units linked to the prison system.

The position has the fewest immediate vacancies but also includes a reserve list, which increases the possibility of calls during the validity of the competition.

Stages planned for candidates of the Penal Police

The selection for penal police officer will have four phases: theoretical exam, physical aptitude test, psychological evaluation, and background investigation.

This structure follows the nature of the position, which involves direct action in the prison system.

For analyst and administrative technician, the process will have three stages: theoretical exam, psychological evaluation, and background investigation.

All phases must be carefully observed by candidates, as the announcement defines eliminatory criteria throughout the competition.

The background investigation, planned for different positions, seeks to verify the social and functional conduct of participants, while the psychological evaluation aims to analyze characteristics compatible with the duties performed in the penitentiary area.

In the case of the physical aptitude test for penal police officer, candidates will need to reach minimum indices previously established in the announcement to continue competing for the vacancies.

The objective exams are scheduled for August 9, 2026.

The program content, application rules, approval criteria, and other guidelines are included in the announcement provided by the organizing committee.

How to register for the RS Penal Police competition

Registrations must be made exclusively online, on the Fundatec website, until June 12, 2026.

The fee is R$ 282.79 for higher-level positions and R$ 124.02 for the mid-level position, with payment within the deadline established in the competition schedule.
