Before installing doors and windows, the frame of the opening needs to be plumb, square, and with measurements checked at the top and bottom, a precaution that prevents incorrect gaps, misalignment, difficulty in fitting, and rework during the installation of blindex or other models.
Doors and windows may have installation issues when the opening is not squared with plumb, square, and repeated measurements at the top and bottom before receiving finishing.
The guidance from mason SB Silvano Barros highlights a simple precaution: to start finishing the opening, just one side needs to be plastered. From this side, the internal ruler should be positioned plumb, serving as a reference.
Doors and windows require plumb before finishing
With the internal ruler aligned, the next step is to use the square to define the position of the external ruler. The tool should touch the inside ruler while the other ruler is pulled until it reaches the correct alignment.

This adjustment needs to leave a small gap, around 1 millimeter, to avoid jamming the work. The main point is to check the square both at the bottom and top of the opening, without relying on just one check.
Measurement at the top and bottom prevents error in the opening
When one side is already plumb and square, the opposite side can be marked by the measurement. If the opening is 1.5 meters or 2 meters, the same distance should be repeated at the bottom and top.
After this marking, the ruler is placed again and the frame is ready to receive the plaster. This sequence reduces the difference between the ends and helps maintain the opening regular for doors and windows.
The precaution is important because the subsequent installation of a blindex door or another model depends on this alignment. A crooked opening can make fitting difficult, compromise the finish, and require corrections.
Plaster only enters after checking
With plumb, square, and measurement checked, the plaster can be applied to the opening. Then, the finishing is done on a secure base, with less risk of rework.
