BMW’s giant SUV offers a first-class cabin, sports car acceleration, pneumatic suspension, intelligent driving assistant, and an experience that redefines the concept of premium comfort among luxury utility vehicles sold in the country.

It’s not always easy to explain what it really means to drive an SUV worth more than R$ 1 million in Brazil. However, just a few minutes behind the wheel of the BMW X7 xDrive40i M Sport is enough to understand that the model goes far beyond power, size, or status. The German brand’s mild hybrid SUV offers an almost unbelievable combination of luxury, technology, interior space, and sports performance in a vehicle with capacity for up to seven occupants.

The information was released by “Autoesporte”, in a detailed test conducted with the 2026 BMW X7, the top-of-the-line SUV from the German manufacturer, which today officially costs R$ 1,026,950 in the Brazilian market. Furthermore, the model arrives to directly compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLS, currently sold for R$ 1,044,900.

The BMW X7 is sold in a single version in Brazil and bets on a very clear proposal: to combine absolute comfort with sporty dynamics, without giving up extremely advanced technological features.

BMW X7 draws attention with its gigantic size and imposing appearance

The first impact of the BMW X7 happens even before entering the car. After all, the SUV measures an impressive 5.18 meters in length, just 3 centimeters shorter than the Mercedes-Benz GLS. Additionally, the model is 2 meters wide, 1.83 meters tall, and has a massive wheelbase of 3.10 meters.

Visually, BMW’s SUV bets on robust lines, a hood with striking creases, muscular bumpers, and the traditional double-kidney grille of the German brand, an element that continues to divide opinions among consumers.

The 22-inch wheels also enhance the imposing nature of the set. Furthermore, the BMW X7 uses tires with different sizes between the front and rear axles, a strategy that improves stability and traction in a vehicle that weighs 2,415 kg.

At the rear, the straighter and more “boxy” design conveys a sense of robustness, while the exhaust outlets reinforce the sporty identity of the M Sport division.

Another important detail is that the BMW X7 manages to attract attention wherever it goes. During the test conducted on the streets of São Paulo, practically no one failed to notice the SUV on the streets, mainly due to the combination of size, visual presence, and refined finish.

Interior of the BMW X7 combines cutting-edge technology, extreme luxury, and comfort for seven passengers

If the exterior impresses, the interior of the BMW X7 elevates the experience even further. BMW’s proposal is clearly not just to transport people, but to create an environment isolated from the outside world.

In the cabin, there is practically no visible plastic. Instead, materials like premium leather and Alcantara finish dominate the environment.

The SUV has space for seven passengers, and surprisingly, even adults can travel comfortably in the third row. Additionally, those in the rear seats have USB-C ports, ambient lighting, a dedicated sunroof, and individual cup holders.

Versatility also deserves mention. Even using all seven seats, the trunk offers 300 liters of capacity, a number similar to that of a Volkswagen Polo. However, by folding the third row, the space increases to an excellent 750 liters.

Another standout feature appears in the intelligent details. The BMW X7 has an electric tow hitch activated by a button, pneumatic suspension with automatic height adjustment, and an electric folding system for the rear seats.

Additionally, the trunk lid has a split opening. While the upper part opens normally, the lower part functions as additional support for loading and access to the compartment.

BMW’s luxury SUV parks itself and offers technology worthy of futuristic cinema

In the cockpit, the BMW X7 features a large curved assembly that combines a digital panel and a 14.9-inch multimedia center into a single piece.

The interface is intuitive and extremely modern. However, the main highlight is the convenience features embedded in the SUV.

The air conditioning system has five independent zones. Thus, each occupant can choose their own temperature, including those traveling in the third row.

Additionally, the BMW X7 is equipped with a premium sound system with 36 speakers, a virtual assistant similar to Alexa, and a head-up display.

The seats offer heating, ventilation, advanced electric adjustments, and a massage function.

However, the feature that draws the most attention is the Parking Assist. Using 360° cameras, sensors, and radars, the SUV can identify parking spaces and park itself with virtually no driver interference.

According to the test, in three attempts made, only one required a small manual correction.

Additionally, the BMW X7 also offers Driving Assist, a semi-autonomous system capable of accelerating, braking, and even avoiding obstacles on highways. Nevertheless, the driver must keep their hands on the wheel for legal and safety reasons.

Mild hybrid engine delivers sports car performance in SUV over two tons

Under the hood, the BMW X7 uses a mild hybrid system (MHEV) consisting of the well-known 3.0 biturbo inline-six engine combined with a 48-Volt auxiliary electric system.

The system delivers 381 hp of combined power and 55 kgfm of torque.

Additionally, the SUV uses an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with xDrive all-wheel drive.

The numbers are impressive: the BMW X7 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds, outperforming even some sports sedans, like the Volkswagen Jetta GLI, which does the same in 6.6 seconds.

Even being extremely fast, the SUV manages to maintain a very high level of comfort thanks to the adaptive air suspension.

The system allows lowering the body by 2 centimeters or raising it by up to 4 centimeters to tackle uneven surfaces.

Moreover, the precise steering and all-wheel drive help reduce the vehicle’s perceived size during driving.

In terms of consumption, Inmetro indicates averages of 8 km/l in the city and 8.7 km/l on the highway. However, during the test, urban consumption was approximately 7.2 km/l.

Even so, for an SUV weighing 2,415 kg with nearly 400 hp, the numbers can be considered honest.

Another relevant point involves safety. The BMW X7 features six airbags, a complete ADAS package, lane-keeping assist, automatic braking, and intelligent traffic monitoring.

On the other hand, the SUV also has high costs. Just the parts basket for the model reaches R$ 193,087.

Even so, the BMW X7 delivers exactly what it promises: extreme luxury, lots of technology, absolute comfort, and surprising performance in one of the most sophisticated SUVs currently sold in Brazil.

If you had the opportunity to choose between extreme luxury, advanced technology, or sports performance, which of these points would weigh most in your purchase decision?
