Demolition of Old Club Marks the Beginning of the Revitalization of Morro do Moreno, Which Will Gain Plaza, Cable Car, and Complete Tourist Structure
The demolition of an old club on Praia da Costa marks the beginning of the revitalization works of Morro do Moreno, in Vila Velha. According to the local government, the structure will be completely removed by the end of May, making way for new constructions that are part of the site’s transformation project.
On the morning of Wednesday (7), the municipality announced that a guardhouse and a plaza will be built on the land where the building stood, located on Rua João Joaquim da Mota.
Across the street from the site, public restrooms, an administrative office, a storage area, and a space dedicated to environmental education are planned.

A man builds a homemade raft with twelve 50-liter containers, spends R$ 260, and creates a fishing platform that supports four people on a calm lagoon without needing to buy a traditional boat for weekend leisure, with a simple structure.
The Secretary of Works and Structural Projects of Vila Velha, Menara Cavalcante, emphasized that this is only the first step in a broader process. She explained that the area where the demolition is taking place is outside the protected area of the Natural Monument, which exempted it from environmental licensing for this phase.
“This is an important first step to transform Morro do Moreno into a more organized place, prepared to welcome visitors with structure and safety,” she stated.
The project, which has been promised for years by the municipal administration, envisions the revitalization of one of the most visited tourist spots in Espírito Santo.
According to information released in 2024, the site is expected to feature various attractions, including a playground for children, a café, viewpoints, and even a cable car to facilitate transportation for visitors.
The proposal also includes the installation of parking, new lighting, and a sign similar to the famous Hollywood sign in the United States. The local government reported that the expectation is for the complete structure to be finished in up to a year and a half.
The contract for the work was formalized in January. Since then, the contracted company has been working on the development of the executive project and the licensing process for the other phases, which involve areas with environmental protection.
The total estimated investment is R$ 10 million, with funding coming from a partnership between the state government and the municipality.
According to the local government, the main objective of the revitalization is to improve the structure for the public, ensure more safety, and establish Morro do Moreno as an open environmental park for visitation.
