Boeing held the inauguration of its new Engineering and Technology Center in Brazil, in São José dos Campos (SP), a city that has been home to the company since 2014. The Boeing engineering center in Brazil is one of 15 aerospace manufacturer centers around the world that develop cutting-edge technology to boost aerospace innovation.
Boeing Announces a Series of Strategic Investments in the Country
Approximately 500 Boeing engineers based in Brazil work in various areas, supporting different types of current and future aircraft. During the event at the Engineering and Technology Center in Brazil with key collaborators and partners this Tuesday, the company announced several strategic investments in the country.
The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of the state of São Paulo focusing on aerospace technological development. Among Boeing’s main objectives are the development of training in aerospace engineering, including education focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Interns will apply knowledge through projects in a global and multicultural environment, guided by experienced professionals.
The initiative aligns with the company’s global strategy to contribute to engineering excellence in the countries where it operates. According to Boeing’s Vice President of Engineering, Strategy, and Operations, Lynne Hopper, Boeing’s long-standing partnership with Brazil dates back over 90 years, and during this time, the company has collaborated with the aerospace industry and the Brazilian community to leverage the incredible technical skills and problem-solving capabilities of Brazilian engineers.
Their experience strengthens Boeing’s commitment to engineering excellence and positions it to face the next generation of challenges in its industry. According to Jorge Lima, Secretary of Economic Development of the State of São Paulo, the state has all the conditions to consolidate aerospace technological advancement, an essential sector that drives the São Paulo economy. In this way, the company seeks to generate more jobs and income for its state, one of the main objectives of the partnership with the private initiative, a guideline from Governor Tarcísio de Freitas.
Boeing Investments in Brazil Over the Years
In addition to the Boeing engineering center, the company highlights that it has made investments to strengthen the country’s aerospace ecosystem on various fronts, including obtaining more than 30 patents through the Boeing Research Center since its establishment in the country in 2012.
The company has also invested US$ 5 million in partnerships with institutions focused on teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), impacting 5 million students and training thousands of teachers.
In the area of sustainability, Boeing has been collaborating for over 10 years with universities, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations to enable the decarbonization of the aerospace sector. This work particularly focuses on sustainable aviation fuels, recognizing the country’s pioneering role and expertise in biofuels.
