The Ministry of Education is accepting registrations for an MEC scholarship for undergraduate studies, offering R$ 1,050 monthly to students enrolled in face-to-face teaching programs. The goal is to encourage students to stay in their courses and value future public school teachers.

The program, called Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas, is part of the initiative More Teachers for Brazil and is open for registration until March 30. Registration must be done through the Freire Platform, as highlighted by the JC Concursos portal.

How Does the R$ 1,050 Monthly Amount Work?

The MEC scholarship for undergraduate studies is divided into two parts:

R$ 700 monthly for immediate use by the student;
R$ 350 monthly deposited into savings, with withdrawal allowed only after completing the course and starting in the public education sector.

According to Estadão Investidor, the staggered payment aims to ensure that students do not abandon their studies and have additional motivation to work as teachers.

The program schedule, released by IFSP, follows this calendar:

Registrations: until March 30
Preliminary results: April 4
Final results: April 14
Start of payments: May 1

Candidates must monitor the process through the Freire Platform, where it will also be possible to check the release of funds.

Program Aims to Combat Dropout Rates and Value Teaching

The MEC scholarship for undergraduate studies aims to reduce dropout rates in teacher training courses, which currently exceed 45%, according to data from the Census of Higher Education. The proposal is to provide financial support throughout the course and ensure motivation for students to enter the teaching profession.

The expectation, according to JC Concursos, is that more than 20,000 students will be benefited in 2025. In the coming years, the goal is to increase the number of scholarships available.

Como valorizar o magistério só com formação, se o que se paga na grande maioria os municípios e estados é um salário vergonhoso, para quem sempre vive a estudar e formar centenas de alunos para movimentar toda economia brasileira.
