The Dutch BREKR Has Just Announced Its Electric Bike with a 250 W Hub Motor. The Model Has a Range of 75 km and Could Be a Great Option for Those Seeking Sustainability and Comfort.
The BREKR, an electric mobility company based in the Netherlands, recently announced the arrival of its new electric bike to the market, called Model F. Although it looks like a motorcycle, the new model has pedals on board and falls into the same category as electric bicycles. The design is inspired by its older brother Model B, an electric moped.
Electric Bicycle Features a 250 W Hub Motor
The new model features a reinforced main support that runs the entire length from the front hub to the rear axle. The rear seat is supported by a tube structure. The company also opted to use a custom 22-inch (55.88 cm) rim on the model.
According to the manufacturer, the 20-inch (50.8 centimeters) wheels are generally seen on other electric bicycles as being too small. Another highlight of the model is its 250W hub motor from the Chinese company Bafang, installed in the vehicle’s rear wheel.

The motor is equipped with a two-speed automatic transmission, meaning high or low gear, which is quite innovative in the segment. This feature is very useful for climbs, for instance, a situation that requires more torque from the motor. The high gear is also ideal for traveling at higher speeds. However, regarding this, due to the electric bicycle law in Europe, speed is not one of the strong points of the electric bike.
To operate legally on European streets, the vehicle’s acceleration is limited to 25 km/h. Although it does not have suspension, the company claims that the thicker tires provide a better experience for users of the hub motor vehicle.
Electric Bicycle Offers 75 km of Range for R$ 16,3 Thousand
In theory, the intention is for the tires to absorb impacts and shocks coming from the road surface. The saddle also has integrated shock absorption, which could ensure greater comfort during rides.
The buyer can choose between two battery options, either the standard unit of 540 Wh or the 700 Wh one. The first option provides a range of 60 km, while the more powerful second option offers a range of 75 km.
Although it has not gone into detail, the company claims that under ideal conditions, the electric bike can exceed 100 km of range on a single charge. The launch edition, the Model F Launch Edition, is already available for pre-order at £2,995, equivalent to R$ 16.6 thousand at the current exchange rate.
Only 20 units will be produced, with delivery expected to start in the third quarter of next year. The first edition will arrive shortly after, in the fourth quarter of next year, for only £2,945, equivalent to R$ 16.3 thousand.
Electric Bicycle Market Is Becoming Increasingly Competitive
The electric bicycle market gains a new model every day, and recently, Canada’s HOVSCO launched its new model called HovAlpha. This is a budget-friendly, robust electric bike designed to tackle almost all types of terrain, according to the company’s own information.
The model features thick 26-inch (66.04 cm) tires, making it much easier to navigate through sand and mud, for example. For those seeking to go beyond trails, the model also includes an integrated 80-millimeter suspension fork.
With a 750 W electric motor and a power of 1,032 W, the model can easily conquer steep paths.
