The entrepreneur founded Aldo Solar in the 1980s, inside a Kombi, traveling around Paraná selling materials for repairing radios and televisions. The entry into the generator distribution sector began in 2000. Currently, Aldo Solar serves about 11 thousand customers and follows the trend of e-commerce, with more than 70% of its revenue coming from online sales.
Aldo was a distributor of conventional solar power generators, working alongside brands such as Samsung, HP, Intel, and Microsoft until it entered the solar energy sector in 2015. In 2019, the company achieved a profit of R$ 580 million and for the first time earned the title of leader in solar power generator sales.
Brookfield Claims It Has Been Eyeing Brazil For A While
At the beginning of last year, Brookfield was already making purchases in the solar energy sector, acquiring Alex Newen, a company from the construction and engineering group, Steelcons. The group is based in Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo, and had previously closed the early sale of solar energy from its projects in an auction held by the federal government in 2018.
The Canadian fund, Brookfield focuses its investments on real estate, clean and sustainable energy, and infrastructure. At the time, the acquisition was already seen as an indication that the fund would soon enter the Brazilian solar energy market.
