With Over 3,000 Hp, New Track Version of Yangwang U9 Outperforms Electric Rivals and Focuses on Aerodynamics and Advanced Technology.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China revealed that BYD is ready to launch the track version of its electric supercar Yangwang U9.
The new version promises to deliver an astonishing 3,019 hp, nearly tripling the power of the current model.
This configuration puts the U9 Track Edition ahead of any production electric hypercar. It leaves competitors like Lotus Evija, with 1,972 hp, and Rimac Nevera, with 1,914 hp, in the dust.

A Track Edition car is a special version of an existing model, designed to offer optimized performance on racetracks while still being street legal.
The performance boost comes from new 555 kW motors at each wheel, replacing the ones used in the standard version, which already delivered 1,300 hp.
Importantly, BYD is not just betting on brute force. The Track Edition is expected to bring aerodynamic and braking improvements, typical of editions aimed at circuits.
This includes increased downforce, carbon fiber components, and 20-inch wheels wrapped in wide tires.
Dimensions and Weight
With an estimated weight of 2,480 kg, the new U9 will be only 200 kg heavier than the Rimac Nevera, even delivering much more power.
The length is expected to range between 4.97 m and 4.99 m, with a width of 2 m and a height between 1.311 m and 1.351 m. The wheelbase will be 2.9 m.
The design will closely follow the base model, featuring glossy red and black paint, a carbon fiber roof, and a fixed rear wing made of the same material.
BYD is also expected to include new aerodynamic elements to maximize stability at high speeds.
Technological Base of the Model
The current Yangwang U9 uses a BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate battery of 80 kWh. It guarantees a range of 450 km on the CLTC cycle and supports ultrafast charging of 500 kW in direct current. This allows charging from 30% to 80% in about 10 minutes.
Another highlight is the “DiSus-X” suspension, capable of performing unique maneuvers like jumping potholes or driving on just three wheels.
This system is expected to be retained in the track version, reinforcing the proposal to offer performance combined with advanced technology.
Track Performance
The base model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.36 seconds and has already reached a top speed of 391.94 km/h. In addition, it recorded a time of 7 minutes and 17.9 seconds at Nürburgring Nordschleife in November 2024.
Therefore, the expectation is that the Track Edition can further improve these numbers, perhaps threatening the lap record for homologated cars, currently held by the Mercedes-AMG One.
Although BYD has not disclosed specific goals, the extra power and the aerodynamic package indicate significant gains.
Expectations and Market
There is currently no information about the price of the new version. The current model costs around US$ 233,411 (1.68 million yuan). However, it is likely that the price will increase due to technical advances and the appeal of exclusivity.
The launch does not seem merely like a “track package” with some visual tweaks.
This is a significant evolution that combines cutting-edge electrical engineering with ambitions to outperform not only electric rivals but also some of the fastest gasoline cars ever built.
Moreover, the U9 Track Edition reinforces China’s presence in the supercar scene, demonstrating that the local industry competes at the highest level of automotive performance.
