The Federal Savings Bank pays this Thursday (28) the August installment of Bolsa Família to beneficiaries whose Social Registration Number (NIS) ends in 9. The minimum benefit amount is R$ 600, but with the additional payments included by the government, the average amount received this month reaches R$ 671.54.
According to the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and Fight Against Hunger, the income transfer program reaches 19.19 million families across Brazil in August, representing an investment of R$ 12.86 billion.
Additional Benefits Increase Paid Amount
In addition to the base amount, the Bolsa Família provides for three types of increments. The Variable Family Nutrition Benefit grants R$ 50 for six months to mothers of infants up to six months old. Another additional payment of R$ 50 is given to pregnant women and nursing mothers, and a third, also R$ 50, is paid for each child between 7 and 18 years old. Payment Schedule Follows Last Ten Business Days of the Month
Bolsa Família payments occur during the last ten business days of each month, staggered according to the end of the NIS. Thus, this Friday (29), beneficiaries with an NIS ending in 0 will receive, concluding the August schedule.
Beneficiaries can check information about amounts and dates directly in the Caixa Tem app, a tool used to manage digital savings accounts.
Advance Payments in Affected Cities
In 521 municipalities, deposits were made as early as August 18, regardless of the last NIS number. The advance benefited the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul and cities in other states, such as Amazonas (3), Paraná (4), Roraima (6), and Sergipe (11), that suffered from rains, droughts, or vulnerability of indigenous peoples.
The complete list of locations with a special schedule is available on the ministry’s official website.
Protection Rule Maintains Partial Benefit
Another highlighted point is the so-called protection rule, which affects around 2.63 million families in August. This regulation ensures that families who find employment and increase their income remain in the program for up to one year, receiving 50% of the amount they would be entitled to, provided each member has an income of up to half the minimum wage.
The average amount received by these families was R$ 365.81. The rule was changed in June: reduced from two years to one year, but the change only applies to new cases. Those who were already in transition until May 2025 retain the previous timeline.
Gas Aid is Paid Along With Bolsa Família
On the same date, the Gas Aid was also released, amounting to R$ 108, for families registered in the Single Registration (CadÚnico) that have at least one member receiving the BPC (Continued Provision Benefit).

The information was disclosed by Agência Brasil, with official data from the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance.
