With New Increase Instated by Detran, The Values of Service Fees Will Be Slightly Above Normal, With Increases of More Than 200% in Amazonas, For Example

New rules have been imposed by Detran. Now, the services charged by the department will be more expensive in all states, such as the fees for issuing the national driver’s license and medical exams.

The state of Amazonas was the most affected by the high prices of services, experiencing a 200% increase. In 2022, for example, the psychological exam cost R$ 57.71 and now it will cost R$ 184.03. In addition to this fee, the first copy of the CNH will go from R$ 81.7 to R$ 163.41. In total, the state suffered a 218% increase in all Detran service fees.

The new prices for the Detran service fees started to take effect from last Monday, the 2nd, and Detran had already communicated that it would raise the service fees in December of last year.

Medical Exam Fees in MG

In Minas Gerais, for example, the fee for the medical and psychological exam will go from R$ 169.28 to R$ 200.20, with this new value being valid from February 1, 2023.

This Detran medical exam is required to assess whether the applicant obtaining the driver’s license has the physical and psychological fitness to hold the CNH, and also, for those who wish to renew their driver’s license.

Dry Law

Another novelty in the Detran sector is the suspension of the Dry Law operation, as after a decree by Governor Raquel Lyra, which revoked some sessions of servers and suspended licenses, some police lost benefits and returned to the barracks. With the governor’s decree, Detran decided to suspend the operation of the Dry Law.

According to a note sent by Detran, the agency states that it does not intend to interfere with the governor’s decisions, and the decision to suspend the Dry Law is not related to her political background as she is the daughter and niece of people who have held political office.

Detran states that it is awaiting a position from the new government: “We hope for action with the utmost urgency to put back on the streets the traffic agents and other servers who have prevented so many accidents and deaths with the operation,” emphasizes the note released by the agency.
