Chevrolet Plans to Launch a New Affordable Car in 2024 with Excellent Cost-Benefit, Aiming to Surpass HB20 Sales in the Affordable Vehicle Market.
Chevrolet, one of the most recognized automakers in Brazil, announced an exciting launch for next year: the reintroduction of an affordable car priced below R$ 60,000, with the promise of significantly impacting HB20 sales. This new vehicle is set to fill the gap left by the Classic, showing great potential to energize the national automotive market.
Meet the New Affordable Car That Could Be a Strong Competitor and Shake Up HB20 Sales in 2024
Out of production for a few months in the Chilean market with its previous generation, the Chevrolet Sail Sedan 2024 makes a comeback with a much more interesting design. For those who have never heard of the model, it is the result of a Chinese project developed by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, and it is indeed imported from China.
The new affordable car from Chevrolet, a strong competitor to “face off” against the HB20 sales, is one of the most popular models in Chile, accumulating great sales numbers in the country and having been sold there since 2011.

While the previous generation Sail Sedan had design traits reminiscent of the Onix, the new affordable car, which aims to end HB20 sales, features a more elegant style and squarer lines. The front has narrow rectangular headlights connected to the grille, as well as a bumper with a smaller air intake, delivering a more classic style than the public is used to seeing. In profile, a crease runs from the front fender to the rear, linking to the horizontal taillights that invade the trunk lid.
New Chevrolet Car Will Have a 475 L Trunk Capacity

Inside, the affordable car that aims to end HB20 sales features straighter and more horizontal lines, which undoubtedly stand out from the rest of the brand’s lineup, offering a more rounded design.
A line runs across the entire dashboard, hiding the air vents, reminiscent of the 11th generation Honda Civic. In addition, the new Chevrolet car features an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system offered on the higher versions.
With a compact build, the new affordable car from Chevrolet, which promises to end HB20 sales, measures 4.49 meters in length, 1.49 meters in height, 1.69 meters in width, and has a 2.55-meter wheelbase. To give you an idea, the current Onix Plus measures 4.47 m, 1.47 m, and 2.60 m respectively. The trunk of the compact sold in Chile has a good 475 liters, slightly larger than the national sedan (469 L).
Chevrolet’s Affordable Car Delivers Up to 98 Horsepower
Under the hood, the new Chevrolet car features a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine. According to the automaker, this engine delivers 98 horsepower and 14.2 kgfm of torque. There are two transmission options, one manual with six speeds and one automatic CVT. It is available in LT and LTZ variants, the latter with two transmission options.
What stands out is that the model, despite being basic, already includes disc brakes even at the rear, while the Onix Plus here has drum brakes in the back. It is worth noting that the Chevrolet Sail Sedan 2024 is priced at US$ 9,790, which in direct conversion is around R$ 48,218. It is Chevrolet’s cheapest car in Chile, positioned below the Onix and Onix Plus models, which are priced at US$ 11,790 (R$ 58,069).
