Leak Suggests That The iPhone 17 Air Will Have A19 Pro Chip With 5-Core GPU, While Pro Version Will Maintain Full Configuration.

The iPhone 17 Air will come equipped with the new A19 Pro chip, but with a GPU of only 5 cores. This information was revealed by the Fixed Focus Digital profile on Weibo, which has over two million followers. According to the leak, only the iPhone 17 Pro models will have the complete A19 Pro GPU, with 6 cores.

The reduction in core count may indicate that Apple is utilizing chips grouped according to performance or dealing with thermal limitations in the device’s thinner design.

Despite this, it is unlikely that most users will notice a difference in performance during everyday use.

Forecasts and Changes

This new information contradicts previous predictions by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said over a year ago that the iPhone 17 Air would use a standard A19 chip, not the Pro version. The base model of the iPhone 17 is also expected to feature an A19 chip, according to the same leaker.

Analyst Jeff Pu claimed months ago that the regular model would come with an A18 chip, but later backtracked and now expects the A19, aligning with the latest forecast.

Fixed Focus Digital has a track record of accuracy, such as when it revealed the name iPhone 16e before the official announcement. This model will be the successor to the iPhone SE.

Release Date

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 17 lineup next month. The announcement is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th, when all details should be confirmed. Until then, speculation continues to energize the market and the brand’s fans.

iPhone 17 Air

The iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest model ever released by Apple, at just 5.5 mm thick and an estimated weight of 145 grams.

It will feature a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a 120 Hz (ProMotion) refresh rate and simplified cameras: one rear 48 MP and one front 24 MP.

Inside, the device is expected to bring the A19 Pro chip but with a reduced 5-core GPU, while only Pro models will have the full 6 cores. Additionally, the smartphone may come with a 5G Apple-designed (C1) modem and support for Wi-Fi 7.

Due to the ultrathin design, the battery will have reduced capacity, estimated at 2,800 mAh, which may affect battery life. To minimize this impact, there are rumors of optimizations using artificial intelligence aimed at energy consumption.

The model will replace the “Plus” version in the lineup, offering a more sophisticated look but with some limitations in performance and features compared to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
