Record production, regional advancement, and high consumption place a company from Ceará in an egg chain that still has a greater concentration in the Southeast, while the Northeast expands its presence in production hubs like Ceará and Pernambuco.
Avine, a company from Ceará founded in 1992, reached the mark of 2 million eggs per day after investing R$ 72 million in expansion, automation, and modernization of its production units over the last three years, according to information released by the company.
The advancement occurs in a sector that recorded national growth but continues with a greater production concentration in the Southeast, according to IBGE data.
According to the institute, Brazilian egg production reached 5.4 billion dozen in 2024, the highest volume in the historical series of the Municipal Livestock Survey, with an increase of 8.6% over 2023.

São Paulo hides beneath the asphalt a project worth R$ 1.1 billion with 44.6 km of underground cables, energy from Itaipu, and a silent mission: to reinforce the ABC region of São Paulo.
In the same survey, the Northeast accounted for 17.6% of egg production in 2024, while the Southeast concentrated 40.4% of the national total.
Among the states, São Paulo remained in the lead, with 23.6% of Brazilian production, according to consolidated data from the IBGE survey.
The scale reached by Avine occurs outside the axis that gathers the main national hubs of the activity, in a scenario where regional companies seek to expand production capacity and commercial presence.
Currently, the company operates in 12 states in the North and Northeast and maintains the strategy of consolidating markets in these two regions before advancing to other areas of the country.
“Surpassing this mark reinforces the confidence of consumers, clients, and partners in the work we have developed over the 34 years of operation,” said CEO Airton Júnior, in an interview published by Movimento Econômico.
Avine expands production amid the growth of egg consumption
Avine’s expansion accompanies the increase in egg consumption in Brazil, a product that gained participation in family diets during a period marked by changes in the prices of different proteins.
By combining frequent presence in household budgets, use in various preparations, and availability in different formats, the egg has become more relevant to consumers, retail chains, and companies in the food sector.
In addition to domestic consumption, the protein also advanced in segments related to healthy eating, food service, and the food industry.
This scenario helps explain investments in scale, automation, and portfolio diversification, especially in regions where demand depends on distribution networks capable of serving supermarkets, wholesale markets, and industrial clients.
The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein reported in April 2026 that Brazilian egg production reached 62.3 billion units in 2025, with a per capita consumption of 288 units per inhabitant.
This data replaces previous projections and confirms, according to the entity, the continued growth of national production in the sector.
Also in 2025, the IBGE pointed out a new record in the Quarterly Survey of Chicken Egg Production, with results surpassing those recorded in the previous year.
According to the quarterly survey, the country produced 4.95 billion dozen, an increase of 5.7% compared to 2024, maintaining the growth sequence observed in the historical series of the survey.
Although the surveys have different methodologies, both indicators point to the expansion of national production and reinforce the relevance of regional distribution for companies operating in consumer markets outside the Southeast axis.
Ceará and Pernambuco gain strength in layer poultry farming
In the Northeast, Ceará and Pernambuco appear among the most dynamic hubs in layer poultry farming, according to sector data and surveys on production and employment in the activity.
The evolution in these states is related to the presence of local producers, the expansion of food retail, and the demand from supermarket and wholesale networks operating in different cities in the region.
Beberibe, on the coast of Ceará, ranks among the five largest egg-producing municipalities in the country in the IBGE survey, alongside traditional centers like Santa Maria de Jetibá, in Espírito Santo, and Bastos, in São Paulo.
The presence of the municipality in this group indicates that part of the Northeastern production has started to occupy relevant positions compared to hubs historically associated with layer poultry farming in the South-Central region.
Airton Júnior stated that Pernambuco and Ceará are among the fastest-growing markets for Avine.
According to the executive, the opening of supermarket and wholesale stores creates opportunities for the company, as the company’s operations are strongly linked to these sales channels.
“Since our operations are very focused on supermarkets and wholesale markets, states with a large opening of stores tend to grow more in opportunity for our operations,” said the executive, explaining the company’s regional expansion logic.
According to the CEO, Avine’s strategy does not foresee an immediate advance into other regions of Brazil.
In the company’s assessment, there is still room to strengthen operations in the North and Northeast, with gains in efficiency, process improvement, and increased commercial presence.
“We understand that there is a lot of work to be consolidated in the North and Northeast regions, and we believe we can continue growing with consistent work here,” stated Airton Júnior.
The executive also mentioned investments in technology, automation, production capacity, and quality controls as part of the company’s expansion cycle.
Regional market demands adaptation to consumer profile
The operation in the Northeast involves consumption differences between states, cities, and sales channels, which leads companies in the sector to segment products for retail, wholesale, industry, and food service.
According to Airton Júnior, preferences can vary even within the same state, with significant changes between municipalities and sales formats.
In some cities, as reported by the executive, the demand for brown eggs exceeds the demand for white eggs; in others, dozens sell more than trays with 20 or 30 units.
The company also observes variations in the consumption of quail eggs, a product that has higher demand in certain states, according to the CEO.
These differences require adjustments in production, distribution, and portfolio composition to meet sales channels with distinct profiles and avoid offering products that do not align with local consumption.
The regional reading of the market helps explain the performance of local companies in a nationally concentrated sector, especially when there is a need to adapt to the purchasing behavior of each area.
With closer proximity to points of sale and knowledge of regional preferences, companies with local operations can adjust distribution according to the demand of supermarkets, wholesale clubs, and commercial clients.
Avine works with traditional eggs of different sizes and colors, free-range eggs, cage-free products, eggs enriched with omega-3 and vitamin E, as well as quail eggs and pasteurized products aimed at the industry and food service.
Investment strengthens the production chain in Ceará
Avine’s production expansion is also related to the Ceará agro-industrial chain, which involves production, logistics, marketing, and services associated with layer poultry farming.
The company reports generating around 1,200 direct and indirect jobs, a number associated with industrial, logistics, commercial operations, and activities related to egg production.
For Airton Júnior, the company’s advancement contributes to positioning Ceará in an area still marked by the leadership of states in the South-Central region.
“The more we strengthen our operation, the more we contribute to consolidating Ceará as a national reference in agro-industrial production, innovation, and value generation in agribusiness,” he stated.
In the Northeast, increasing participation in national production depends on factors such as productive investment, logistical capacity, efficiency gains, and meeting the quality requirements of retail and industry.
Even with significant hubs, regional participation is still lower than the concentration observed in the Southeast, which maintained the largest share of Brazilian egg production in 2024.
The mark of 2 million eggs per day places Avine at a new productive level within the company’s regional operations.
The expansion of production outside the Southeast axis, as indicated by sector data and the strategy informed by the company, involves continuous investments, technology, logistics, and adaptation to the consumption of each market.
