Toledo Brazil Receives R$ 37.2 Million from BNDES to Create Innovative Solutions That Will Improve Performance in Sectors Such as Industry, Commerce, Agriculture, and Services
Toledo Brazil, a leader in the weighing solutions sector, has received significant support in its innovation journey. Through the BNDES Mais Inovação program, aimed at fostering the development of new products and solutions, the company secured support of R$ 37.2 million from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). This investment will be essential for the creation of 13 new products aimed at improving the performance of industry, commerce, agriculture, and services, consolidating the commitment to technological modernization.
The BNDES investments are part of a R$ 39.4 million plan by Toledo Brazil for innovation and the development of cutting-edge technologies. The goal is to create competitive solutions that can rival foreign technologies, with the potential to increase Brazilian presence in the international market. Among the planned innovations, products that integrate artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and computer vision stand out.
One of the most anticipated innovations is the development of a scale that, using cameras, will be able to identify products without labels, such as fruits and vegetables, streamlining processes in the food sector.

The use of AI will also enable the creation of other innovative systems, such as one intended for livestock. This system will use cameras and algorithms to estimate the weight of animals in pastures, eliminating the need to transport them to pens, which can reduce animal stress and improve productivity.

In the logistics area, another project supported by BNDES investments is dynamic weighing, which will allow weighing trains and trucks in motion. This technology promises efficiency gains, greater traceability of information, and connectivity between machines and Toledo’s cloud platform, called Cloud Prix.
Edson José Freire, Vice President-CEO of Toledo Brazil, commented on the importance of financial support: “Having the support of BNDES is essential to leverage the economy through our business. We are already present in various segments, such as industry, retail, and agriculture, and these resources reinforce our innovation journey in the use of AI and IoT.” The company, which employs over 1,600 staff and has 435 specialized technical offices spread throughout the country, is constantly expanding its technological capabilities.
The relevance of BNDES investments in innovation was underscored by the institution’s president, Aloizio Mercadante, who highlighted the growing demand for credit for innovation with the new industrial policy of the federal government. “Investment in innovation in the industry for the development of new processes and products is fundamental for the country. With the new industrial policy of President Lula’s government, the demand for credit for innovation at BNDES increased by more than 230%. This year, we expect to reach around R$ 7.5 billion in financing approvals for this purpose,” Mercadante stated.
José Luís Gordon, Director of Productive Development, Innovation, and Foreign Trade at BNDES, also highlighted the importance of this support: “Innovation is one of the pillars of the More Production Plan, the financing arm of the New Industry Brazil. With resources at adequate costs to support development risks, we want to encourage the productive sector to seek new solutions to reposition Brazil in the international landscape, generating income and qualified jobs in the country.”
With the partnership between BNDES and Toledo Brazil, it is expected that the country will make a leap towards technological modernization, especially in crucial sectors such as agriculture, livestock, and logistics.
