The amount of 32 concrete beams were raised over the West Coast Main Line, in northern England, to form the structure of a new bridge in Cumberland, in May 2024.

The Project Director’s Statement Reinforces the Scale of the Operation

Alan Bingham, project director of the Carlisle Southern Link Road, stated: “This achievement represents the collective planning, hard work, and exemplary teamwork of our supply chain.”

He also highlighted that the installation of the beams marked an important advancement in the construction of the new bridge over the West Coast Main Line.

The statement shows that the operation was not just a common construction phase. It was a decisive moment to transform concrete pieces into a real structure over a major railway.
