The Mega Sphere of Las Vegas, a $2.3 Billion Project, Is a Four-Dimensional Spherical Structure That Represents a Landmark in Modern Engineering and Architecture. Located at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, This Sphere Is a Fusion of Advanced Technology and Innovative Design.
With an area of 54,000 m² and a height of 112 meters, the sphere is a wonder with a width of 7 meters. The exterior is adorned with millions of LED lights, allowing the mega sphere of Las Vegas to visually transform into anything – from a soccer ball in the 2026 World Cup campaign to a giant pumpkin on Halloween.
The Interior of the Sphere Is Equally Impressive
With an immersive LED screen with a resolution of 16k X 16k that covers almost all the walls and the ceiling. Additionally, the sphere features 4D effects, such as wind and climate control, elevating the viewing experience to a new level.
The project was conceived by the architecture firm Populous, known for its iconic designs around the world. Announced in February 2018, construction began in September of the same year, with an initial completion date set for 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant delay, pushing the completion to 2023.

Challenges and Solutions of the Mega Project in Las Vegas
The pandemic not only delayed the construction of the Las Vegas mega project but also increased the project costs to $2.3 billion, making it the most expensive entertainment venue in Las Vegas history. Construction required a team of over 1,500 people and the use of the fourth-largest crane in the world, the Demag CC8800, to handle the materials, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. The exosphere, which supports the LED screens, was one of the most complex components of the project. The installation of the exosphere and the LED lights was completed in May 2022, marking a significant moment in construction progress.
With the completion of the Las Vegas sphere, there are plans to build a similar structure in London, England. This project has already received approval but is currently on hold due to a public planning inquiry.
